I swear I saw that somebody was offering a "kit" to convert the Yellow Aircraft Spitfire to the bubble style canopy but I have searched using a variety of words and I can't find the post.

It was a new rear deck with rails for a sliding canopy built in. I think it included the canopy as well. There was a link to a web page that had pictures of the conversion process as well.

Does anybody else remember seeing this and more importantly, does anyone know who has these?

Thanks,
-Bob George

I do remember seeing it also. I believe the gentlemans name was Zach Spychalla. He's from Wisconsin. Give an email to Fred Menna here on RCU. I think he purchased one and gave it a thumbs up.

Good luck,

That's me. Quite a bit of interest is getting generated in the conversion kit that I offer. My son and I just finished 8th and 9th at the NATS with 2 planes converted to the bubble canopies. It was great fun. Lord willing, we will both be flying these planes at the U.S. Scale Masters in Dayton this fall.

Many people asked who's kit is that? What model Spitfire is that? We found it enjoyable to have something different. Some think it is a MK22, some uninformed think P51, one guy asked if it was a SeaFang. All think it is a Sexy Airplane. For anyone interested, you can reach me at: spikes@globaldialog.com

I also have looked for the past thread from months ago and for some reason I think if must have been struck from the record. Maybe it was considered to be too much of an advertisement. I am not up to speed on the exact rule. I think it is of service to offer modellers exciting options in the area of scale.

Well I think we have the hottest Spits flying with those ZDZ 40's. They seemed to pull better than the other 2 Spits at the event. They were running Moki and BGX. I noticed the props they were running are 20-8. Were are pulling 20-10's. So that is the scoop. I have not matched up with a G-62 powered machine yet. It will be an interesting match to see if it can fly formation with a Zenoah powered machine.

Bob,

I have recently flown that ZDZ with many other warbird. I am about 10 mph faster than my son's G-62 powered Stuka. Yet I had Doug Imes's G-62 powered Wildcat walk away from me at St. Charles last weekend. He had about 10 mph on me. That thing was fast. Can't explain it. I thought I was doing well, but I guess it is just an average speed airplane.
