Does anyone have a pic of the plumbing of the "new style" fuel pump, the one that has 3 lines?

Picture of the pump is somewhere in this thread, but;

In of pump: connect to tank pickup line
Out of pump: connect to carb

Release on top of the pump: connect back to the tank, for example T-connect to the fill line.

Finally found a source for gearbox grease (SKF LGHP2) - few left on eBay -
Do a search for it.
Seems like nobody else in the US has any!

Hello Moki owners.

I just discovered that my prop 26x16 for my Moki 150 is to long for my Beaver. Yhe prop will hit the ground during take off! I think I had to use a prop size 24x?

Can you recomend a 24" prop that suits the engine

For the Moki 150, try a 24 x 18, 3-blade prop made by SEP and available from Vogelsang-Aeroscale (http://www.team-aeroscale.com/SEP.html)

Sorry, just noticed you are in Denmark... I'm sure there are distributors of SEP props in Europe.

By the way, your plane looks great! Good luck with the Moki-powered flights!

Advice wanted.

After several flights without any problems with the moki
Today, experience problems:
after starting the engine , warming up , everting fine, taxing for take of stil no problem.
Then slow acceleration to half throttle then the engine lost power for a second then more throttle input given plane started to fly, engine kept running but sounded like the ignition stopt working now and then, I was able to land the plane safely.
I used a LiFe 6,6V 2300mAh ignition battery with a 5A 5V Ubec, after landing I replaced this battery by a 5cell 2400mAh NiMh (this accu i used before for the ignition with the same Ubec)
Tried the engine, engine choked, and started tried to give more throttle but engine stopt, after that i was not able to start the engine.

I looked at the 2 leds on the ignition
according to the manual the 2 leds whould need to light both after turning the prop this doe not happen led 2 comes on 2 or 3 times en then stays off

I made a short film of the leds on the ignition (note the ignition is switched on and off together with the fuelpump)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8FR_lOeV04

Thanks in advance

Eric
same moki in better days

Hi Eric, it's difficult to form a view from here but the ign unit is picking up power, solid green led, the other led should have five pulses per rev. Now there is a breakdown somewhere, check your low tension connections the multi plug to the ign unit, check the hall sensor pickup remove from engine and pass a magnet over it you should get one flash per pass. If all this checks out you probably have a faulty ignition unit...............hope this helps.

Hi, Noob question for you all: Are these moki radial engines similar in function and sound to the radial engines on actual aircraft?

Thanks Mick
I'll will try that

here at approx 1 min you can here/see the take off , with the moki behaving badly
Meeting Bladel

I did some tests
with a magnet the led nr2 goes on each time.
with the sensor reinstalled depending on the position of the prop the led lit max 5 times (with the coils not connected it's the same)
after installing 5 new spark plugs to the ignition leads. after several turns found a constant.
No spark when the leds lightends , ONLY the sparkplug of cyl nr 2 , after this one had a spark the led nr2 goes out and stays out
sometimes after that i heard a high pitch tone (like a highvoltage powersuply)

Thanks for more advice

Eric

Eric,

you asked for my statement.

Really not easy "on the phone". But it might well be a bad ignition. We had 2 failures here ( one with my own 180, one with a 215) where the black box was the bad boy. constantly misfiring and cut of in flight, but starting was normal.

Replaced it ( fast guarantee exchange from Airworld) and the problem was gone.

Perhaps you cann borrow one from a friend??

Attention:

I assume you checked your electronic switch, not all of them work well with the moki ignition (!!)  ??

Hello Detlef,

Thanks for your advice

I tried it also with the igintion unit connected directly to a battery (makes no difference)
Sent a e-mail to airworld this morning but had no reaction (maybe they are closed on monday)
maybe try to call them tomorrow.

ps is the ignition from a 250 the same as the 215 ??
maybe i can ask Hans ( from holland) (who contacted you last week for his 250 turbulator/filter)

thanks

Eric

All, I have owned a 150 and an older 215 and learned much running them on the bench. Recently I replaced an engine in my OMP Yak 55M with a brand new 215 from Gotz Vogelsang. I am using the APS fuel pump and the Kunkle Turbulator just like on the two previous engines. It is a real pleasure to actually fly a Moki for once. What a true thrill. I am using Amsoil Interceptor at 40 to 1. Airflow has been optimized and all cylinders are at the 190 F range after taxiing in and shut down. It seems that the quality of the Moki's has improved. The finish is finer and the exhaust is far cleaner with nearly nonexistent black goo. I recall the 150 and the older 215 producing a great deal of the dreaded black crud and was all over the place. No I was not running overly rich then or anything else different, same oil too, even later at 50 to 1. I am using a Fiala 32x18 prop. Later I will progress to 50 to 1 oil. At 40 to 1 the five spark plugs show good combustion. I am happy with my 215. -Tom

Noah Butler, Are you still flying that wonderful warbird of yours?
