ellenwoods5 -> Merco 40 (needs needle&spraybar assembly (7/20/2009 5:35 AM)

I have a Merco 40 that i purchased about 20 years ago and had it mounted on a magician 35 that turned out to be a great combination although it was a bit fast but rock solid until one day when i had one of those flying brain farts while inverted and very close to the ground when i panicked and pulled up causing a most horrific crash. When it was all done the needle and spraybar did not survive. So what i am getting at is that i have looked everywere for a replacement and have come up with nothing that will work from any of the other manufacture's or local shops. Any help on this problem would be great .    John

ellenwoods5, I use to run a number of CL engines and all ran fine using OS needle valve assemblys or Enya which is about same.

Use washers to assure NV is centered in standard venturi. Then be sure the one spray bar hole is facing straight back just out of sight. Plug and redrill any Super Tigre venturi to obtain same. In my last several years of stunt competition, I used a ST 40, rebuilt by the late George Aldrich, using a centered OS NV. With that engine and a well broken-in Fox .40, I won a number of 1st/2nd places throughout the Chicago-Land area in the '68-'73 time frame.

Now I am flying a bit of fun CL and gearing up for stunt again, but the reflexes are not there now. Using Fox 35s again with OS NVs. Same as before, just badder pilot! [&o]

BTW Vauxhall, Thanks for that link. Looking good.
