Well I am 3 for 3...

First plane a nice Big Stik 40, My first plane and I got the hang of it in 2 days. Im out at the club's field doing my own "make it up as you go" aerobatics, when I decide come in and fuel up. So I bring the plane in for a landing and a sudden cross wind kicks up. So I decide to abort and make another pass full throttle and climb she goes up up up and then about 70 or so feet it stops going up.... "pucker factor" she head straight down at full throttle. Makes a screaming whine as she goes and Im pulling back on the elevator all the time...to no avail... Boom!!! Plane in the dirt. OS .40 LA about 18 Inches buried. Dead Stik. I come to find out later that the Elevator Control rod came out of the clevis. Oh well I rip out the gear and get another plane. This time it is a nice .25 Size Mustang this plane is a rocket... It flies great... and on a low flyby I think i hit one of those "Gravity Storms" and the plane hits the dirt runway at about 60 miles an hour. Plane toasted and in splinters. Oh well I say this time im gettin one of those Duraplanes!!!!

Plane number 3.... Duraplane trainer with an older ST .51 on it.. What a difference... this plane takes off in like 15 feet of runway and floats like a soaring eagle on the wind... It is just booooring for me... I didnt like the lazy rolls it does or not so fast other make it as you go stuff... So i decide to try a snap roll and Uh oh!!! NOt enough ruberbands on the wing and all of the sudden I see a styrofoam wing floating to the ground with the PVC fuse coming down like a Tomohawk missle on final approach. To make a long story short... My next plane is a World models Ultimate Bipe 120 and I will surely be ready when I get done with it.

Thanks,

Greg

I gotta admire your spirit. We should all enjoy our crashes as much as you do. I'm not criticizing, but I hope you are learning a bit of caution and patience from all this. Plus you're getting a lot of building experience.

Nope it was a metal one, and it seemed to have stripped the threads.

I don't know what had happened!!!!
just be careful with the world models, they're extremely quick. But you'll love the easiness it is constructed in. If you're into building, you might want to try a fun 51 profile plane or extra special profile plane by tower hobbies. Those things are super quick and take off in 5 feet.

Divebomb,
I had a Super Stick ARF that came with metric pushrods and clevises and I didn't know it. I reached for my favorite 2-56 clevises to replace the cheesy arf clevises and actually threaded it on the metric rod end. I thought it seemed just a little easy to turn on and gave it the pull test. It came off with a moderate tug. I saved myself but, wondered if others ever made the mistake. That plane went down due to the plastic shrink wrap used to secure the rod to the dowel. I actually fell for the instructions and the "novel" method.
