I would like to build a completely concealed exhaust system using my K&B .61 ( side exhaust). I really don't like having to hang the muffler outside of the scale cowl. Yuck. This is for the new Prince-America Tucano.

Anyway, I'm looking for a source for header that stays tight to the cylinder, pitts type mufflers, flexible metal exhaust tubing or anything else that will help me keep it in the cowl. I figure one of you warbird gurus must have some good sources.

Thanks

You might try O.S. I know on their smaller motors they have a very narrow swept back pipe. I used them on a 70 in b-25 with OS 32's It fit completely within the nacelles with the muffler. Short of that your into making your own out of copper elbows and tubing. This stuff is pretty heavy for a .60 unless you need the weight up front. Brazing is a bit tedious and messy but it works. silver solder( not the Stay brite) is pretty expensive. About $50 bucks for the minimum amount of material.

A long time ago Mac's had a wrap around header that allowed you to run the pipe through the canopy in the pattern planes of the day. I had one on a Dirty Birdy and a UFO. They were pretty pricey back then. These fuselages were about 3 1/2 inches wide so if you could find one it may do the job.
