Lewis,
It seems that some of the problems with adding features with the software is related mostly to memory. How much of this is taken up by "model memory"? 99 model memory sounds very impressive but I'm sure if most guys even had two copies of each plane they still would only need about 16.

Just wondering if that is a possible area to free up memory.

Since Mr. Polk hasn't posted an answer yet, I'll take an educated guess (I have computer engineering background), and if I'm wrong, he can correct me.

The memory in question for adding features is likely the memory of a PAL (Programmable-gate Array Logic) chip or something similar, while the model memory is probably stored in a Flash EEPROM chip. The difference is that the model memory chip is strictly a data storage device, while the "Features" memory is part of a programmable processor (over simplified of course).

I kind of figured it was something like that but wasn't sure.

Well, as I said, it's only an educated guess, since I have no desire to reverse engineer my Tracker.

I may be wrong...

Dear All,

We feel the 99 model memory is essential for most pilots. You can set one model up several different ways and experiment flying in the different modes without re-programming each time. This is one of the key selling features of the radio and we don't want to give this up.

We are working to see how we can condense the programming a bit to include the few things that you have asked to be added.

Yours truly,
Lewis Polk

Thank you once again for listening to the masses.

I believe this is one of the things which sets your company apart and above the competition. They would never be so pro-active in responding to their customer's requests.

How many model memory is enough? I like the abilty to have 3 different setups per plane, and some people have upwards of 20 planes. I once met a fellow who had just sold 50 planes, and still had close to 100. There's an active thread in The Clubhouse asking "How many planes do YOU own?"

Slightly off topic - if anyone asks how well the Seeker works with spark-ignition engines, I had absolutely no problems up until I crashed mine, and the crash was due to design flaws, not radio problems. Ground based range tests actually increased slightly in range (2 paces) with the engine running. Electrical seperation was only 11 inches between the engine kill switch, and the aileron extensions, and no sign of interference..

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing about listening to customers. After all, that was the final reason why I decided to purchase the radio. The suggestions made sense and it came to pass. I know one radio can't be everything to everybody but this radio has so much to offer that I would like to see it reach its potential... and value. A little more ergonomics and programming and there is not much reason for anyone not to consider this radio as the last one they will have to buy for a long time.

At our last club meeting I did a show-and-tell on the radio and everyone was amazed, especially when someone asked what it cost. Trouble is in 2004 if its improved I may have to buy another one That's something I don't want to do.

I have been flying the transmitter with a Kadet Senior (my 3D fun fly plane at the moment) and it is rock solid with the old Airtronics receiver, tho I did have to switch some plugs around. 3' inverted passes on a three channel trainer have to be steady Will try it tomorrow on a gas engined plane with the Seeker installed. I tried to do that yesterday but accidentally kicked one aileron and stripped the gears :

Flew the Tracker and Seeker on my gas (magneto) plane today with no problems. Have to get used to flying this plane with Expo again as I've been flying it without for about two years (ten year old plane). It felt very solid.

At this club one places AMA card in a slot and takes the pin, which is no problem. At my other club one places his/her pin on the board . I think I'll have to make a mini white board and buy some erasable markers for my pin It's so nice to be able to pick a channel you know no one is using.

It would be nice to be able to assign expo to the dual rate switches as you don't need as much at low rates. Everyone is quite impressed with the radio. .....more to come I'm sure
