I want to power a light rc car with an EDF. Basically going to guess and test it until it works. Can it be done with one EDF? I am just looking for a point in the right direction on this. I'm not sure how to use pounds of thrust compared to the weight of the vehicle. Not looking to break the bank but will put some money into it.
Thanks in advance
B

The pounds of thrust will not be a big issue for your car, most cars are exceptionally light compared to electric jets, but you will get a slewed acceleration. What is the size of your car? 1:10 scale? 1:8 scale? How fast do you want to go, triple digit numbers?

I am not really worried about triple digit speed. The faster the better. I just think it would be a fun project. It will be a 1/10th scale pan car. rc10l. Real light.

Consider a HW609 fan with a mega motor ACn22/20/1 on 7 cells, zapped. The motor is a special racing version that is bought by special order. Expect about 2.5 pounds of thrust, maybe a little more thrust but you'll have lots of speed coming from it. Get a hacker master opto 70 amp controller, and keep it cool! You may have problems with it if you run it for prolonged periods of time, it's an LMR controller. Do some more research and find what you will like. Most low cost setups are not that powerful, so you're in the money with these setups. If you can run a glow engine without fuss, I may actually recomend it in your case. If you look at items like the Kyosho fan used on the FV-1000, it would be okay if you use two of them, but still, it's not as powerful as you'd think.
