In a "Near Death Experience" I destroyed my 18 - 8 Zinger Pro prop on my OS 160. No problem I'll just replace it with one of the Zinger Pro 18 - 8 props I picked up at the LHS the other day. Here's my problem, I was getting 8500 with the old one, the best I can get with the new one is 7800. The new one looks a bit different in the writing on it and maybe even the tips, I can't tell because the old one is now a 6 - 1.5. Has anyone experienced the same thing with Zinger Pro or any other props ? I can see a small difference, but 700 rpm is a lot.

On the positve side, the engine is now about 5 db. quieter and the mid range burble and knock I have been trying to get rid of is now gone. What's up ?

That sounds like the rpm difference between Zinger Amateur and Zinger Pro. Regular Zinger has square tips, while Zinger Pro has tapered tips. If this is not what you got, then I am interested to find out what Pro Zinger is doing to make different versions.

No it is a Pro and I'm not sure if the tips are different or not, it's just a notion. the tips are tapered but they seem a bit different, but maybe not, but the label on the prop is different writing although it does say ZINGER PRO. I was wondering if the wood was harder with less flex. I just can't see a slight difference , making a 700 rpm drop.

It's no big deal, as I said in the original post there have been some positive side effects, although it is giving me slightly less vertical. It now takes 1.5 seconds to climb out of sight instead of 1.25.
