If you like Chris-Craft's, you'll love this one! I took these shots a couple of years ago at the Kruse Int'l auction in Auburn, IN. I would have loved to tow this baby home but I was just a few bucks short (OK, a lot) of the $90,000.00 asking price. Yes, it's a Cobra.

Would you rate that above the Herreshoffs? Been aboard a few Herreshoffs and think they would be hard to beat in quality and finish (for their day and most days since). .

You can get into classifying boats for things such as for luxury, racing, fishing and other classes.
For the pure fun factor though I'd love to have one of these babies..........

Like Ron says, a lot of clasifications. Best boat in the world would be comparing a lot of apples to oranges.
The USS Missouri, for battleships. The Greavette Shields, for wooden classics. The Bluenose or the 16' Lazer, for sail. Apache Warrior, for offshore racing. Best boat in the world huhh?
For me it's the canoe. They've stood the test of time and are still pretty hard to beet.
And I double dog dare anyone to disagree. LOL

To me the commuter yachts are the best. They were elegant and very fast. They were used by the "Titans" of industry to commute from their palatial estates to NYC.

I have to agree with you on the offshore racing . I get to attend them a lot down here and hearing the turbines go by is like nothing else but I can't afford a big offshore boat . so I went with a old f1 Champ boat to get my thrill from i saved this 1991 leecraft from years of neglect . and only have $8,000 in to it . I can tel you doing a 180 turn at 100 MPH + 3 G's is the closed i can get to flying a fighter jet !!
