I am in the final stages of building my Kadet Senior. But, I havent found a strong way to attach the stabilizer on this plane. There just doesnt seen to be alot to glue to. I thought about sheeting the surface of the fuse, but that will not increase the glue area because of the way the stab is built. Does anyone who has bult this kit have any ideas? I have the fuse and stab covered. I am just waiting the the Curtek lights to finish it off.

I just noticed that sheeting the fuse area will increase the glue area but it is not done this way in the plans

why not just cut off that whole section there so theres more contact. No one will be able to see that part anyways. After you put it on add a strip of covering to the joint in case there's any visible balsa.

As for the sheeting it's up to you. I really can't imagine adding any significant weight. The only problem would be the stab not being flush with the fuse. But like i said if you cut off that bottom section in the middle there and glue it one it should be fine.

I would cut off the covering in that area but there is nothing there except a 3/4" piece of balsa running from nose to tail. I have exposed all the contact points as the picture shows except on the leading edge of the stab which I will do tonight. It doesn't say anything about this in the instructions and any help from someone who has built this kit would be greatly appreciated.

Are you saying that, in the stab, there's no wood under those ink lines
that match up with the fuse sides? I'd say that's a bit odd, myself.
So it's a built-up stab, instead of a sheeted one?
I believe I'd remove the covering of the stab, and add sticks to match the fuse.
(Not remove all the covering of the stab... to clarify. remove covering in
the area of the ink lines you have which match the fuse sides... and add sticks)
Definitely seems as though the glue should be at the leading edge, the
one place in the middle, the rear where the sides come together, and all along each side.
I don't think I'd trust anything less, if it were me.

I wouldn't worry about it. The Senior has been around for a long time and it does not have a history of tailfeather failure.

To give you an idea of what can be done with the Senior, look at Paul Burke's Senior page:

Just follow the directions, I also haven't heard of anyone having stab failure on the senior, and that plane has been aroud for almost twenty years.

You don't have to change things, follow directions, what I like doing though, is to have some 1/8 ply installed at the bottom of the fuselage end, in order to attach tail struts, look at the pictures in my gallery, you'll see.
