Could some suggest where I might find schematics and insturctions on how to build a "clean" 12 volt power supply for my Triton.

I have been attempting to use the wall charger that I purchased with my Sirrius charger, yet at times it gives me error message.

Is there a power supply out there someplace that can be purchased that is suitable for the Triton. It is a very finicky unit!

Tks.
Frank

Take an old pc powersupply (AT style) and load the +5V end with a light bulb and you have +12V on the other cables.

Thanks to all for responses to my original message regarding the power supply.

I have checked the pyramid power supplies from millionbuy.com. They are rated from 2.5 amps to 40 amps.

What is the best output amperage to have so that the triton works efficiently. The instruction manual indicates that the power source must be capable of delivering at least 13 amps of current while maintaining 12 volts DC. Should I purchase one that closely matches these specs?

I have also looked at a computer power supply. I believe the one I have in an old pentium is the newer style. The on/off button is on the front of the case. Are these power supplies capable of delivering at least 13 amps of current?

You don't need anywhere near the 13 amps stated by Triton for most normal charging operatioins. I have an 8 amp supply that (PC conversion) that has no problems - I have not found anything that it will not handle.

I have been using an old AT power supply for 4 years now... workd great! I like the idea of putting a lightbulb on the end.

I made one for $25 for my self and then made one for $15 for my friend. More power and at a lower price than the prebuilt ones. Hey there is also a 5V, -5V, and a -12V to use as well? yeah

AT work as ATX do. The switch is nice to have. Mine I found tuching the orange wire to the grownd made it turn on without a load on the 5V? So I leave them connected and it works fine.

You know it never occured to me, using the 5 volt from the supply to power your plane when you are setting it up, rather than your flight pack.

Yes - The 5V regulated output from a computer PS can supply loads of current for all kinds of stuff. More than enough to drive any reasonable number of servos.

It was suggested that I look at three differnt power supplies also. I went with the Pyramid, ten amp, even though it was a little on the high side (amps). I was very surprised at the quality for the money. It has done all that I ask it to do so far (Nova 250).
