I assume that your display is a heat status display and any #1 turn lights (shutters) would work as they do now. #1 judges would have a turn light button and a cut button that signals your stuff.

If the above is correct, you have a technical challenge. You need to tap into the turn light button so you will not accept a cut if the turn light has been lit. If there is one thing that will get a caller in the face of the starter, it is getting a turn light followed immediately by a cut. This is not supposed to happen because the same person does both. It happens. Even if the #1 judge realizes what they did and removes the cut (if they can) the caller is already confused and will not be happy at the end of the heat.

Paul,

So far I'm just working on defining the Lap Count Display interface. It's expanding, though. Like, should I add the ability to display the heat times to the interface?

Speaking of withdrawing cuts. In an earlier message, I asked about this issue, but got no response. But as you pointed out, withdrawing cuts or allowing cut indications under certain circumstances opens a can of worms.

I'm planning on having an interface between the #1 judges and the system, even if it is a human.

One thing I realized the other day as I planned the spectator client user interface is that I have to prevent unnecessary network traffic (especially on 11 Mbs WiFi). So there are many hurdles and considerations to be made.

Here is a screen shot of the Lap Display Test form.

Drew,

I sent you a zip file ... let me know if you didn't get it.
