Hey Helidreamer,

Did you try the RRS/FRS? I just need to know how does it feel when in flight. Is it stable and can you notice the difference? I am a begineer and have no one to train me... I am making mistakes and learning from them. This forum is all the help I've got.

Thanks to anyone who can help me here.

Falconeer.

Okay, if you have no one to train you, i highly suggest you get the realflight G3 simulator and practice on it before u have the hang of the helicopter. Once you do that, you will see there is actually no need for RRS and it is stable in FRS already. Although it is a bit mroe stable in RRS, with the experience you will get on the simulator, you will find that there is no need for it and you will most probably skip directly to FRS.

well well what an interesting thread.....i have been flying my caliber now for over a year now and have decided to change my pitch settings as i had some trouble the other day getting it down, my old settings were -2 (low), 6 (hover), and 9 (full) now i want to change it to -6 +5 and +10 just to liven things ap a little more so last night I started with a clean slate with the caliber and reset up the whole thing from linkages to radio

now it gets interesting....with the settings all as per the manual my pitch would have been around +3 (low) to +16(high) which is wrong wrong wrong at 100% pitch curve and servo travel at 100% this is also with the servos arms set to 90 deg at half throttle this is not anywhere near correct and had me up to 1 AM this morning trying to work with the factory settings my radio is a JR x-378 I know that i can set it up by tweaking this and that but surely the manual should be a good starting point...so why is it? should i set servo travel to 150% or have i missed something?? also I see people using different swash mixes?? cheers damn I NEED a beer now lol

Snappa,

Ive just been through this.

At the moment with your rates settings (swash pitch on the Futaba) you have 13 * from high to low (about right) if you were to shorten the rods from the swash to the rotor grips you may be able to adjust them to give -3 to +10 pitch or -4 to +9 (13* change) which sounds correct.

ive just set mine to -4 to +9 and adjusted the swash rate to give me this. (approx 80%)

If your setting it up for 0 to 10* pitch (only 10* pitch change you would have to reduce your rates to give this (say 65%)

You want -6 +5 and +10 (16* pitch change) so yes, you either set the radio to 120 - 150% to give this movement, or could you install slightly longer servo arms to give the movement required with the radio at 100%.

I need a beer!

My Heli was set to the normal mode (not training) right from the start. By reducing the rates it was very flyable even for learning. Never used the training mode.
