Can someone please tell me how to change between RRS and FRS on the Caliber 30. I'm a beginner and don't understand how the manual explains it. I know it has something to do with the PItch rod and that you have to twist it. Can someone ewxplain what's going on?

If you are using the EMS use the FRS. The RRS (training mode) is not recommended. The C30 hovers very smoothly and if you reduce the ATV or reduce the swashplate you can make it like the training mode.

And since i'm a beginner this question might sound stupid but, what's an ATV and how do you reduce the swashplate?

No question asked is stupid, only the ones not asked. ATV stands for Adjustable Travel Volume. It can adjust the total through of the servo. The swashplate settings are a set of numbers that the radio uses to mix the 3 servos together to give you the correct swashplate movement. I have only used the FRS mode and believe the other RRS mode is not needed. I strongly suggest you find someone near you to help you set up and fly the C30 before you try it for yourself. This will save you many hours scratching your head and $$$$$. You will learn a lot and will get a much better understanding of what this heli flying thing is all about.

Your're right, the manual doesn't explain very well how to change it to trainner ... you have to change your pitch rod's as it is in the manual but what they don't say in the manual is:

rotate the blade holders 180 º so that they will fix at the rod in the other side, to do this you have to take out the blades so that they don't rotate with the blade holders and stay in their position.

I would prefer to show you some pictures but I've got mine with non training..

I agree with david and would set it up in frs mode( I did).
I set the swash setting to -50 -50 +50 in stead of -65 -65 +65
as the manual states. You can mess with the swash settings
in your radio and make the caliber as gentle as you want
setup in frs mode.

Randy 41, when you where talking about the -50 -50 +50 Swash settings. They are set by using the radio only right? It has nothing to do with the pitch gauge. Am I following you correctly?

Yes it is done by the radio. The lower the settings the less
travel you will have. But you can play with the pitch curve
setting in the radio and get simular results. But i think it is easer to use the swash settings in the radio.
Ok if you have a -50 on the swash pitch settings your pitch
range want be as much as -65. For example( -50 swash pitch
setting might give you a -1 at o% collective +5 at 50% collective
+ 8 at 100% collective. -65 swash pitch setting might give you a
(-3 at o% collective +6 at 50% collective +11 at 100% collective.

I have an RD8000, can anybody tell me how to set the Swash Pitch to eg: -50, -50, +50? I am really confused because when I go to the category "etc". and then go to SWH, it only gives me four choices of CP3F, cp3b, cp4f, cp4b which has nothing to do with numbers. And when I go to the CAtegory "P-F" there are five different Pitch curve settings. CV-PH, CV-P3, CV-P2, CV-P1, CV-PL. I don't get what they mean

David J - Why don't you reccomend training mode with EMS?

I used it with no trouble before switching to normal mode.

First off let me say I have never flown a C30 configured in the trainer mode. That said if you are "going it alone" with out the help from someone with experience I would recommend using the training mode. I feel if you find someone with experience (more than 3 years with many heli's) they can get the heli set up to mimick the trainer mode with out the need of changing the mechanical set up. This is the great thing about the C30. It is so smooth and if you make it so, so docile and mild manared the trainer mode is not necessary. The C30 hovers better than most heli's even when in full 3D setup.
