Nice picture of the fellows with the helicopter and p-51 and seeing the grass field in the back ground...
but, how long and what are the ends of the runway like.

MX240,

The photos were taken during the 2009 Warbirds Over Oklahoma at our local Westside RC Flyers club field. The 2010 event will be held at a local airport. The City of El Reno, Oklahoma has granted us the use of the North end of the airport. We will be operating off of the North end of the taxiway. With the planned model runway layout we are marking a North and South boundry line for pilot referance only. If you land long no problem, you will have 1000 feet of asphalt ahead of the South boundry mark. If you land long no problem, you will have 1500 feet of asphalt beyond the North boundry mark. (Asphalt Runway boundries: 35' x 1000')

For the grass runway, it is Parallel to the asphalt with the same N & S end points.

Brian,

Glad to have you planning on being here. If you would like please post some pics of the aircraft you plan to bring. It will help keep the site alive and interesting.

I may be in Amarillo, TX sometime after the first of the year. If so I may bring a small plane and bore some holes in the sky with you.

Again Thanks

Here's what I plan to bring to Warbirds Over Oklahoma 2010:

H9 Hellcat, Magnum 91 2S
TF FW-190, OS 91 2S
P-40, OS BGX-1 3500 (I bought the plane well used, old kit unknown mfg (to me anyway), recently stripped, inspected, and recovered)
TF GS P-51 ARF, G-62

WARBIRDRCER, send me a PM when you head for Amarillo. Maybe we will have a day that is flyable.

Brian

aghost,

How close to the airport is your flying field?

Could you send me directions to your field from the airport?

Thanks,

WARBIRDRCER: Its about 45 minutes from the airport to our flying field. When you leave the airport, get on I-40West toward Amarillo. There is an interchange in the middle of Amarillo, take I-27South toward Canyon. Going south on I-27 puts you on the attached map.

Here's a link to our clubs website - Edit website name. Just got notice it changed today 11/29/09.
http://www.arksclub.com

The site is usually up, but sometimes it isn't for one reason or another.

Do you have an AD-5 Manual to qualify you as an inspector.

How do these look? I need a inspection buy-off, or you can send me your rubber inspection stamp and I will stamp them off. You can trust me

Sounds like you guys have it planned out well since you have been doing it a while. I am setting up a warbird show at Tulsa Gluedobbers for Sept. 11th and 12th. 6 of our club members went up to Warbirds over the Rockies back in August and got the warbird bug. We have our Heatwave for 3D pilots and now we're going to have something for warbird pilots. I am going to try to talk a few of the guys into coming to your show so we can see how you do things and get some ideas for our show. I am going to be the CD (my first show) and am looking forward to trying it.

Chris1971,

Glad to here Tulsa will be conducting a warbird fly-in. I will put the date on our upcoming Warbirds Over Oklahoma web-site at warbirdsoverok.org soon to be online. I was in Tulsa this week and spoke to Matt at Model Works a little about your plans. You can plan on several of us being there for your fly-in.

Let everyone know any aircraft flown by the military, including CAP and Coast Guard is welcome, and they do not have to be in military colors. If there is a question have them look it up on the internet and bring a history of it's service. The first year I conducted the Warbirds Over Oklahoma in 2005 I told people about the CAP operating J-3 Cubs on the East and West coast looking for trouble.

If you would like to meet up on Monday evening I will be in Tulsa overnight. I plan on heading to the Gluedobbers field that afternoon. As a matter of fact I was a member of the Gluedobbers back in 1990 to 1991 while I was living in Owasso.

Thanks for helping spread the word about our invasion.

Thanks,
WARBIRDRCER

I am going in for jury duty Monday morning in Claremore, but hopefully will be done by early afternoon. My cell number is 918-520-2366 if you want to call me Monday and let me know if you are going out to Dobbers. I am rallying the troops for a trip to El Reno for your show, I already have one confirmed and I bet all six that went to Warbirds over the Rockies with me will come too.

Chris,

Great news. Get back with you soon. I will call to schedule tomorrow. I will be at Riverside airport at 0800 and ready to hit Gluedobbers afterward. Well have to get back to the family movie. If you can, you and your group start posting some pics of the aircraft you will be bringing.

Again, Thanks for your support of this event.

The model is a Ziorli scracth built.   I bought the plans, cowl & canapy.  Cut the parts out and built it.  I have found that Ziroli has taken the guess work out of the building process.  It flew without having to trim it on the first flight.  It is powered by a Fox-Sachs 4.2 engine.  Weighs 33 pounds and flys like a trainer.  The flaps are a intrical part of the landing.  It just floats on in.  Just remember the power is used to control the desent, not the elevator.  Depending on my schedule I may be up for the Tulsa show.

Chris,

If you would like please bring flyers for your Warbird event to our event. We can place them at the pilot sign-in table to assure everyone can get one.
