Hey Everyone,
I have been working on isolating this problem for a while. I have no idea anymore so i wanted to see if you guys could help me. I have a new battery pack that when dropped on a certain part of the floor causes crazy jittering with the servos, and then when picked up stops instantly. It does not do it everytime, but probably like every 3 times. Could it be something in the floor? or maybe a something loosely connected in the pack? Please help me out, dont want to lose my new plane over this wierd problem. Thanks. Anyone had any similar experiences?

Adam

Sounds like something is loose.
I would use a different pack.

I have to agree with Geistware - sounds like a loose connection in the battery pack.

I have a silly question to ask though - Why are you intentionally dropping your batteries on the floor while connected to RC equipment?

Yeah, i know sounds real stupid. It just kind of happened. The battery was hanging and i put the plane on the ground and it started freaking out. I think i narrowed the problem down to a bad y connector. I duplicated this problem with a different good pack so I am for certain this is the problem. Thanks again.

After reading your more detailed post in the Futaba forum, I want to change my opinion.
quote:

To setup the tail section, and for this to occur, the battery was connected to a y connector for the right ailerons. It would happen every 3-5th time i dropped the battery. When plugged into the switch harness, and dropped, i couldnt get it to duplicate. I am thinking that maybe the y connector is broken, or loose or somethin, but i dont see why the servos would jitter like that. Also that same side of the airplane's ailerons wouldnt respond sometimes doing ground checks. (the same y connector) and shortly after that, it responded fine.
I now agree with your assesment that the Y-connector is suspect. More specifically, I believe that the connectors themselves are not making good contact, resulting in a brief loss of power when dropping the battery. This will cause ALL the servos to jump and jitter. Also, if the connector for the signal wire has intermittant contact, it will explain the intermittant loss of response from the connected servo(s).

Hey thanks for all your help. I know i sort of figured it out on my own, but you guys got me on the right track. Its done this with two batteries, and the loss of servo control to the right ailerons only happened with the engine running meaning somehow the vibration caused the loss of control of the servos. Thanks again. I know dropping the battery sounds really stupid, but atleast i caught this one before my maiden. Thanks.
