OK, I was wondering what the deal is with these radios. I have been out of the game for a while, and I just got back back in. I purchased a Airtronics MX-Sport 2.4Ghz radio package with my new gear and I noticed that it, and my other new radios use FHSS not DSM or DSS anymore. So whats the deal? FHSS superior? Worse?

The Tx and Rx combo was only 99 bucks new. I don't expect the world from it, all I expect from the FHSS technology is good range and glitch free operation with fail-safe capability.

Some thoughts please......

This is from my own personal experience, I prefer FHSS over DSM, and FHSS has been superior to DSM because if you land into a channel with interference, FHSS will hop out of it into a cleaner channel. DSM, you hop into one channel and you are stuck with it. So, if you get a good channel, you are set, BUT if you land into a bad channel, you are stuck with that channel.

I do not know how DSSS works, but from what I understand, DSSS is also a frequency hopping transmission.

You won't be sorry you bought that radio but I don't think they will be that price for long. Thats how Global intro's a lot of the products now if you didn't notice. Nothing on the market can even come close to that radio for the price. I have sold a bunch of them already and thats because I use one and its easy for me to sell something that works really well. GOOD LUCK and HAPPY RC'en

I've been looking into that radio too. Who's Global?

I seem to be having interference with my Tower/Tactic 2.4GHz system. At home, it's no problem. But today at the baseball field (my first run with the system), if I steer after hitting the throttle, the throttle goes on it's own. If I let go of the throttle, it keeps going. If I let go of the steering, then it stops. It seems like the throttle signal is getting into the throttle channel somehow. This happens even at close range (6-10ft). Not sure why. I was hoping for glitch-free operation. And I have a few more RXs to run all my trucks.

Oh, and I too have read of the issues with DSM where it doesn't switch channels when interference is found, so you're in that channel until it jumps out (not sure if it's a timed thing).

The truth of the matter is that all of the companies were in a race to get the 2.4 FHSS systems out and everyone of them had problems, thats why they all have second and third generation radios in the 2.4 gHz radios already. Airtronics had the least amount of glitches but they were 2 months behind everybody else........they should have waited a little longer and got it all perfect before they dropped it on us. Now all the manufacturers put out some good quality units with very few problems so its all about what you like or price. Airtronics has the lead for now but I'm sure someone else will be trying to vie for the least expensive radio soon.

Global is the distributor for Airtronics, SH and a few other products here in the USA
