Mine don't keep twitching. They just jump when I switch on, then all the servos, analog and digital jump into position after about one second.

Hi there, I'm used both in my buggies. I use Futaba S3305 for stearing and Kyosho Perfex digital servo for the carb and Venum 6volt battery packs for power. No reason so far for not using both types. Just my 2cent. Have fun.

SoCom,

At first I thought the same thing. Funny thing I thought was that only the analog servos were acting up. I did both types of rebinding about 6 times each and it still did it. I unplugged the analog gear servo, plugged in an 8411 and it stopped. It's something with the analog servos not liking the the 2.4 I believe.

OK sorry - I guess I misunderstood the issue.

I have used the JR 9303 in my bandit for 2 years with analog servos on the flaps and digital everywhere else. No Problems.

The only issue is when using analog on the retract servo it can cause the gear to pop up and back down when turned on. As long as you use digital on the retracts all will be fine.

I've done it for yrs and never had any issues on 72 meg or 2.4 gig and to tell the truth, I've never heard the myth.

Actually, you just confirmed what we have been saying. Analog servos do jump from end to end when powering up on Specktrum 2.4 receivers. Why? No one seems to know...but they do it for some reason.

Maybe it is the mixing of digital and analog servos on the same receiver bus...maybe it's just the behavior caused by a stray signal put out by the receiver on start up...but it does happen.

The problem I have had with analog is when I switched to 2.4. Not all but most analog servos I have used with 2.4 cycle (won't stay centered even after re-binding until signal is established) when you turn on the rx/tx. I hate that. I don't use analog anymore. But there is no problem useing them together on the same RX that I am aware of. Mine never caused any problems other than the first start.

The jumping analog servos problem is not specifically a Spektrum problem, it happens on other brands on Mhz rx too where they use microprocessors, e.g. the Multiplex 35Mhz IPD rx causes analogue servos to jump a lot of travel for about 1/2 second after switch on while the processor, memory etc start up. As soon as you switch on, power is supplied to the servos, older simple rx also powered up their electronics and provided a data signal to the servos almost immediately but modern microprocessor rx take some definite time for their computer to get going and provide a data signal to the servo. Analogue servos, given a burst of power but no data, will swing away from whatever position they are in. Digitals stay still.

Throw this in the mix since it was not discussed previously:

One thing that might be a factor, as opposed to analog versus digital.

Different brands use different voltage levels as the reference for the servos position signal. Depending on the battery supply voltage, you can end up with a marginal servo signal. At least in the old days, this was a real concern when using Futaba receivers with JR servos and high voltage (6 volt) packs.

My experience is mostly on 35 mhz Futaba but I have never had a problem mixing servos. Futaba Hitec Ripmax JR and running on 4.8 or 6volts. On anything above a 50 size model I stuck with the 138 rx but smaller stuff often had single or dual conversion GAS rxs fitted. All operated a mix of servos without any real problem. The only thing I ever noticed was a tendancy for one ot the aileron servos to hunt around neutral if I was running 6 volts AND it was fresh off charge. Wiggle the sticks a few times and it would settle down. Currently I am in the USA flying on 72 again with an ancient Futaba 9 and a mix of analog and digital servos.

Incidently a lot of my flying is done in conditions that are relatively unfavourable to a good RF link as I fly 12th scale combat and Zagi combat. The Futaba 9 and a GWS rx has proved a reliable combination sometimes with a digital / anaolg servo mix.

Maybe I have just been a lucky boy but if this was Mythbusters I would say this one is BUSTED!.

I had this problem when using a mix of Analog and Digital servos on a Spektrum set of gear until I re bound the Rx after setting everything up, but first dissconect all your servos from the Rx and then re bind the Rx and all the jitters and servos going from one end to the other went away.
