I have been running my Volcano SV with out the body cause it is much easier to start and fill up and all. If I put the body on, will the motor get warmer or is that all due to tuning? Is it absolutely necessary to cut holes in the body so it can cool? I just love running this truck. Can't wait until the dog bones get here so I can really see what it will do. LOL.

Dakota- Running with the body on will for sure increase the heat of the engine, because these are air cooled engines it is highly suggested that you cut some holes in the body to allow for air flow to the engine.

I just got your emails. LOL. Ok. Is there a perfect place to cut holes? The body I was sent was the hummer body. Where would a good place to cut holes be in it. 1 in the front window and one over the motor? Or do yall recommend some place else? Thanks.

Use your imagination dude; cut enough and big enough holes so that the engine can get plenty of cooling maybe one on the windshield and one close to the engine.
I might get VOLCANO myself.

One in the window should be good, i do that and one above the motor, but my bodies arent as tall so i start it with them on.

yeh make sure also to tune with your body ON. tuning will change because temps will go higher. i cut a hole in the front and rear window so the air can pass through.make sure to cut some small holes for your lsn and hsn for easy access.

This is a Hummer body on it. I know. It is too bad I didn't get the truck body. Oh well. I'm gonna go home and butcher my body. Wish me luck that I don't mess it up. I have the electric start now so the body really doesn't get in the way of it. Just he glow plug igniter and air flow over the motor head. If that is what it is called.

If you have a hole saw you can just cut a perfect circle out of the front window, that would be easiest, or using a dremel, that way you can make it like a square or something.

i would cut out the front and rear window or atleast drill holes through them and cut out a hole for the engine so you can tune with it on and cut out a hole so you can fuel also. This helps out tremendously with engine heat and if you look close some bodies have indents on the body where you are supposed to cut out. Hope this helps.

u could cut out the front grill as well and replace the opening with screen wire or wire mess to help keep the dirt out

Now that would be a great idea. I may do that too. Need the truck body first. And a chassis I think.

Yeah thats good and all but really i think you try to get something more cut out for more airflow here are some pics of my redcat volcano s30 and a vortex ss think the body wont hold up to a bashing after cutting out that much then watch these videos i made yesterday go to my site www.redcatracingproducts.com and click the video link on the left they are listed in there. I gave both of these a good bashing yesterday and the pictures listed here are from today with no cracks in either body.

I cut the whole winshield out of my electric volcano with a dremel, those things have so many uses in this hobby, definitely something to get. Plus sharp angles in a body start to crack. Ive tumbled with that body pretty good and ive yet to have any problem with it.

Edit- damn why is that picture so big haha, ive never had that happen before and ive always used pics from my phone.

I really need to get yall some pic's up of mine. Will that big a hole make it lose some speed? Or does it not matter with these. I'm thinking of racing mine. I went to a local track Friday night and had a blast. Only problem is I was scared to race it with a bent chassis. I really don't like the hummer body. I would like the truck body that chevyderek72 has. Can I even get it? I've got the Hummer body. It is ok but it hits the wheels also. I think I can raise it up so it won't do that. Can I?
