I have read nearly all the posts on this plane now and understand you either fly with a YS 45 or you don’t fly at all, although one post mentioned a Jett 50 with pump working also. But I was unable to determine if the side exhaust or the rear exhaust is the preferred way to go. Seems like the R.E. is a little more trouble in terms of the pipe mods and how to mount it in the fuse. Are there commercially available pipes with turn around exhaust for the YS 45? If the S.E model is used how does it look with the muffler hanging out, and do you use the stock muffler?
Thanks
Kip

Mine had the RE and was not too bad to get into- It had a hatch below where the pipe-hanger was for access- Looks alot better INSIDE-

Most folks just attach an "elbow" to it to help divert the exhaust...

It has been awhile for me and mine is no more- RIP

I have seen the F-16N with the SE YS-45 and it took alot away from the scale looks of the jet-

Have fun!

P.S. I have the Robart Nose wheel/retract unit if you need one...

I had one with the S.E. using a Weston Genesis mini pipe for pusher. The pipe is only about 8.5 inches long. It worked well.

Good luck,
Edgar

Here is mine. I used the rear exhaust with Macs pipe and fuse top header, which puts the pipe right in the middle of the fuse, all inside. Make a hatch between the fins. Check out lov2flyrc's instructions - I did and it worked great. Check out this thread

It definitely looks better without a pipe hanging off the side..
