Thanks for being patient guys. I had to play around with getting video off the camera into new (new for me that is) editing software, and then outputting to a format that YouTube likes. But I finally got it all straightened out.

Here's the video (in HD) of Mac Hodges' B-29 Flight on saturday:

Looks like they still have a few bugs to work out. He lost a main tire on take-off, the X-1 seemed a little loose in it's cradle, and he lost a hatch during manuevers.

Yes, they had a tire come of on take off.

That wasn't a hatch that came off. It was a parachute that was released at the bottom of the outside loop. I didn't realize it until the next day when I saw the routine again without looking through a viewfinder!!!!

It looked like there was a piece missing on the right side near the nose, that's why I thought it was a hatch.

Hi Everyone,

Thursday afternoon we had the new right side (electric) landing gear - eat up the jack shaft brass pinion and had to installed the old set of landing gears from the old B-29, which was really in sad shape, the right outside wheel came off on take-off, the rest was somewhat a normal flight , but shorten by 4 minutes due to running so rich on the DA-100 engines.

Wow........what a great time me and my buddy Dave Griffith had at the B-17 gathering,I cant thank Mr.B.B. Weber for having such an incredible flying site and such a great crew that organizes and runs this show,I saw some of the most incredible flying(Mac Hodges and his B-29,you gotta see it to believe it!!!!),and my favorite had to be the formation flying that the fellas from Missouri put on with their mustangs,I think this show had the most B-17's I have seen in years,I got to see alot of old friends and make some great new ones that I hope to see down the road. Paul Curry, get that P-40 back and ready for action,if we are ever gonna be as good as the fellas from Missouri we gotta practice,I even came home and actually started gluing peices of my B-17 together(funny how going to a great show gives you incentive),I know Dave you will believe it when you see it!!!........I also want to thank Ken(the photographer from R/C Universe)what a fantastic job he did,not to mention carrying around all that equipment in the heat to get all the fantastic photos fron the event,I seem to really like the photo of my P-40 with its rudder in the dirt...........Thanks Ken!!!..........If you missed it,get there next year as it is a show to behold...................Randy"Firewall"Larsen

Ed,
Correction on the list of pilots and the planes they flew. The B-24 was an American Eagle kit and not a B. Boys kit.

Thanks,

Ben:

I corrected the B-24 ID to an AE from Bomber Boys. Anyone wanting to see the complete list of pilots, planes and powered by its on 9 screens....here: Click To See and thanks again goes to Ken's posting and promotion of our event. We have an expanded schedule for 2010 that will provide more aircraft per sq.ft. than we have seen in the S/W in a long, long time

Ken & Ken:

Bomber Field's B-17 Gathering and Big Bird is always the third (3rd) weekend of September. The pilot and plane
count for 2009 was 158 pilots with 221 planes. Three 2010 events provide an opportunity for Bomber Field to host
over 800 pilots with more than 1000 aircraft.

As the "overall" economy improves and the valves continue to flow... I would expect to exceed this. Now, that's a
banner year for everyone to enjoy !

Hi Ed,
I have to disagree with what you said. I think it is sad when someone puts electric motors in a large scale bomber. No offense to people who use electrics. I just don't think it's cool to see a 11-foot bomber with electric motors. The sound is not right with electrics. I enjoy hearing all four 4-stroke engines run together and especially seeing the smoke come out the back. It gives a contrail look in the air plus it's an awesome sound.
My plane didn't crash because of engines out, like you said to me. All four engines were running the whole time. I hate to say this but I had crashed because of pilot error. This was my first time flying in an event like bomber field. It was very stressful at the flight line. I had heat exhaustion and was very light headed. I shouldn't have flown when I did. I ended up stalling my plane and made all the stupid moves to recover. I learned a lot from that last flight and hopefully will be prepared for next time.
I've started building the 1:8 scale Dan Palmer B-24 to replace my AE B-24. I will be putting Saito engines in this one as well. The sound of four 4-stroke engines is going to be awesome on that size of a plane.

Thanks,
Ben

Ben,

We look forward to seeing your Palmer 24, powered any way you see fit... I suggested you give
consideration to the benefits and assurance provided by consistant electric power when you built
the next 24. As you might imagine Bomber Field is littered with the remains of many multi-engined
aircraft. Looking up as you walk around the transmitter impound and kitchen more or less speaks
for itself...

I want to thank the great pilots, pit crews and officials at Bomber Field for all their help in clearing a path for our big Super Decathlon so that we could get to the center taxiway. Without their assistance on Friday and Saturday it would have been impossible for us to fly it.

Ben I sure was sorry to see your beautiful B-24 go in. I have flown ignition airplanes for a long time and will continue to. However, I applaud the electric movement in giant scale airplanes. I especially like the way electric motors are inside the cowl looking very scale like. I'm not knocking what you said, just telling you what I like.

See you all in June
