Winger_BC -> Anyone know anything about this oil? (6/30/2003 11:19:00 AM)

About 15 years ago a local modeler, who I cannot locate now, imported a drum of oil from Australia to Canada to mix his own fuel. After testing it I purchased a few gallons and I am very pleased with it. I cannot be sure but I believe it was called Glo-Glide FX-10
It mixes with alcohol at 5% to a U.S. gallon. I've used it since and my 2 strokes are still running strong and I never use after-run oil. I just took out an OS 61 from mothballs and it runs as smooth as the day I put it away.
Sure would like to see if anyone knows anything about this oil. Specs would be nice.
Also does anyone know of a good Synthetic oil that can be used other than Klotz Super Techniplate. It should be readily available in North America, Canada preferred.
I've been looking at racing Motorcycle oils but can't find one that is appropriate.
Appreciate any help

When I get home I will give you the exact stats of what oil I use to mix in my FAI fuel that I homebrew.

Its a Go-Kart oil they use for there high performance engines and it runs about $9 a quart (32 ounces).

:) OK, I know I'm being picky here but if it isn't 20% all castor then it's not FAI fuel :)

If you use 20% Klotz Benol then it's still not FAI fuel either because Benol has additives in it.

Winger, I've never heard of that oil here in Oz but a google search found something with FX10 that's sold by some motorbike shop but it didn't indicate what it was used for. To the best of my knowledge all synthetics are just off the shelf oils made for other uses that happen to work reasonably well in our engines.

Shortman - Thanks, looking foward to your brew recipe and hope I can find the same ingredients here.

Downunder - I was hoping someone from downunder would reply. Appreciate your input. Today a local mechanic told me Motul oil is available in our area so I'll be looking into that avenue.
