Funny how the weekend started.
Got my new DPU the blue one. All I needed is a battery pack , one more servo and spinner ,prop and some other little things. May be 200.00 dollars more, of parts and little odds and ends.
Im ready to get on this plane like white on rice.

My wife and myself were going for a little get away, all booked and paid for weekend. getting ready to go. I get a call from my boss. Asking me how the job at the hospital is going, like always nothing new.

Well 1/2 hr into or talk he goes, "Ron I have some bad news", usually he tells me we late on getting something ready for the site and get ready for the back lash.

Well to my shock he goes "I have to let you go."
Just like that. And what was the reason I asked.
MONEY, they are trying to get the company sold and need to clean the books up so they can go public.

I was in shock, My wife said I was white as a ghost. Looked like theses guys. Well I was in the middle of a huge project. At the hospital I was doing this install at. The flipped.

Good note they asked for my resume. Ad other people were in shock as well. And on top of this, the sales guy was saying the reason the project was having problems was because of me.

Well That got a good response from the hospital staff they threw his butt right out of the hospital and call my manger who , had a meeting with the owners , and his striating everything out.

But I am back looking for a job again. Un real. I just can’t believe. How this happened. My wife and daughter vacay is gone and just really messed up , my project on my plane as well.

Well not to bring everybody down.
Just thought I let you all know. So I am kind bummed out.

I hate to hear that-- I am sitting here and I am sure my days are numbered also. My boss quit 3 weeks ago-- new guy has no idea what he is doing-- his boss has even less. Bottom line is that budget has to be cut. I think I am OK till the end of the month--then.......who knows (makes it tough on the hobby)

Ron, I know the feeling. After 20yrs of Active Duty I was in "shock" also! All I kept thinking was,,, how am I going to buy spares for my Race planes and Nelson engines

But since my departure I landed another with no worries!!! The best part about my new job,,, They are teaching me how to fly the Helicopters that I work on

There's jobs out there,,, you'll find another. I did and so can you

Ron,
Keep a good thought. I've been there too and something else always comes along. You'll be back to work soon.

I am sorry to hear that. Losing a job is no fun. The economy is weak right now. I hope it recovers soon.

Recently been there, mine ended the same way. I was in electronics and thought everything was ok, then boom, I'm a ward of the state.

Don't stray too far from your planes, your hobby is a good way to keep your spirits up. When money was tight, my wife still had fuel and glow plugs in the budget because she knew that my planes were what helped with keeping out of serious depression.

I was out of work for 6 months then landed a good job with a fabrication firm. I count my blessings every day.

With the present economy, many people are in the wait and see mode. I need to purchase another car but I have not because of the fact that I may not be able to pay for it after this summer. The company I joined 2.5 years ago has been loosing money for over 7 years. They have pulled an ENRON and have been hiding a lot of the issues. Now they are coming out and everyone except the people who have the power and control of the money is to blame. I just need one more month to get my two planes air worthy and can start selling my spare parts!

Ron,
I didn't know you until this thread but since you are from the Central New Jersey area also, I was compelled to reply. I was let go from Computer Sciences Corp (a computer consulting company) in late January 2003. My job and 300 of my associates went to India thanks to the GREED of corporate America. I have 32 years in computer program development and Database administration and I am still looking for a job. The job I held for the past 2 years was the best one I had yet. As BEARMECH stated each change brings a better situation. Look at your situation in a positive light. Sometimes we only see the negative impact of something like a job loss. I feel ( and it has happened more than once in my life) that a Higher Authority is directing you/me to do better or to kind of force us to improve ourselves. Sometimes we get in a rut and keep spinning our wheels to get out but until we get the right push we stay in the rut. This happened to me in 1995 when after 10 years busting my butt for the company my job was outsourced. You know I actually felt relieved when told I was let go. Kind of like a big rock was removed from my back. I am already seeing some positive possibilities due to this current job loss. Keep the Faith and you will get through. Remember when the going gets tough the tough get going. When life hands you a bunch of lemons make lemon aid and drink to success.
Good Luck and God Bless

At this time the job market is really bad.
What jobs are out there do not want to pay, and no benny's as well. Like every body is saying thing can turn around for the better. Got to keep telling myself the glass is half full.

Just sick how greed can wreck so many people life's.

Ron,
Don't despair, and keep tinkering. What ever you don't get out of the hobby or sell off everything unless you absolutely have too.
About 4 years ago I left 10yrs of firefighting/paramedics to begin a career in flying, relocated with my wife to a better job for her. Needless to say after 9/11 it has been hard going, even more so in the northeast. I still don't have regular work and have been testing the fire department waters again. Tinkering with the small planes and building from scratch (I use to build for people had a lot of supplies) kept my mind in the game. I sold all my big stuff and as I slowly replenish them I have regretted selling them off. (especially my full scale Pitts project). So put the big one on hold, maybe tuck it away, hide it but don't get rid of it.
Hang in there things will come around for ya.

I am doing some side work.
Right now and collecting unemployment.
So it will cover bills, but not benefits.
Which stinks. The Job market over here is bad.
Allot of people are out of work.
Rich keep getting richer , the poor keep getting poorer.

I really appreciate you kind words .
I am not selling my plane. I have been looking for a bip for a very long time. I get it I am not getting rid of it.
Unless there is no choice . I do not think that will come up .
What is 300 dollars going to do, food shopping for the week LOL.

Hang in there. You may have to relocate and while the Atlanta job market is not the best, I will welcome you to my home fields!
