Well i got this beast out this today and OMG amazing is all i can say,i can definatly shave 4-5 seconds off my time trial vids now with this car,it is unbelievable, car drives so much better with upgraded shocks and mecathek springs.it handles so much better with the rebuilt diff also.im well delighted.
i must say the very best upgrade i have done to date must be the elcon balldrive,OMG super smooth and eliminates all noise from drivetrain.

going like a bullet now, vids on the way tomorrow.

So you think there was a big difference between the springs? In what way did the car handled better?

Edit: Love your Beetle (but I guess you knew that already )

hello waqr

thanks..........

yes a major differnce as they stiffen up rear axle a lot, well i guess they worked a lot better with the newly rebuilt alloy fg shocks i already had on it.

the best upgrade you can do waqr to your monster is balldrive, trust me man its excellent.....

how do you find the stock cups, shafts??

i cant wait to run my beetle man,but i need to spend a lot of money on it a lauterbaucher clutch, samba pipe like yours, balldrive, two new wheels...........man its expensive.

i am doing a lot with my onroads at the moment but when weather gets nasty i may not get to do anything for a long time...........

cant wait to run my beetle and give onroads a break......

hows your machines going??

So you are going to buy the Samba pipe to your Beetle? It will be interesting to hear what you think when your compare these two pipes. Since the Samba is more a low- mid end pipe and the Jetpro is more a top end pipe I bet you will notice a big difference between them. I can tell you one thing, you will not be dissapointed with the finish of the Samba pipe. It is absolutely gorgeous

But why change from the Jetpro, not happy the way it performs?

well ill tell you waqr the jet pro is perfect, like new actually...i even spent some money making up a custom side stand for it to mount direct to chassis as not to scuff gearplate but there is just not enough room when it is fitted to car,it winds all around the back of car and even a filter change may involve removing pipe sometimes.

and its mounting requirments ARE HORRIBLE it takes ages.............they should have been made in two pieces!

That is som great videos. I wonder how many videos you have done now. Its gotta be thousands Keep them coming, I love them

Regarding the drifting I guess that a good start is to lock your rear diff Do you have an adjustable diff on the Carson C5?

so nobody here for drifting talk....

so i was going to start another new thread on ACE SERVOS but i will discuss them here.

                                                                        ACE DS 1015

so where to start.....i bought my frist one of these around 4 months ago.the servos was operational in my fg beetle for throttle/brake aplication.i was running mecathek hydrolic rear brakes and cable fronts.i had the servo mounted in an alloy radio tray with no slop {{fitted securely}} in all honesty this servo cost me shipped almost 130euro to my door inclusive taxes/shipping.here is the link below.

ADJUSTMENTS
like any normal servo i spent time setting adjustments/epa points etc etc i was using a futaba 3pm 2.4ghz radio & reciever.the servo was fitted to my onroad fg competition car.
i loved its response times and for the hydrolic brakes it offered awesome power when applied to pedestal for the hydro.

USAGE
now in all fairness this servo was used in a very high end onroad car, fitted securely to a carbon radio tray.the servo had overall 5-6hours use GALLON of fuel.

MANUFACTUER & WARRENTY
so pis##d off as i was with the servo packing up just after a gallon i packaged it up and sent it back to hobbythek,i had its origional box and recipts it came with.obviously all hobbythek can do at this point is send it back to manufactuer for repair/warrenty
so 2weeks went by and we got word from the manufactures, here is what was said in my own words.

""upon recieving your servo we can clearly see that you did not use any rubber gromets to mount it in radio tray {{WHICH I TOLD THEM I REMOVED THEM TO SHIP IT}} so they accepted then that i did use them. secondly i was told "" you had servo mounted too tight in radio tray, you should leave a little play/slop for servo to move around when rotating......{{ LOL, I NEVER HEARD OF THIS}}  .......and-" we could see servo was installed too tight as the top plastic mounting cover was cracked and screws heads were marked in it""......

now to me this is a load of poo......could they not at least give me warrenty on a 1 gallon old servo....i have two more that done the same thing {{PACKED UP FOR NO REASON}} this is ridiclous...

can anybody agree with me that servos must be mounted securely to radio tray,i never heard of leaving servo loose to be able to move around a little.after that the guy in hobbytheks shop told me all servos should be mounted the same way...........mmmm

anybody else know anything about this???
comments and help greatly apricated........
http://www.rc-car-online-shop.de/lshop,showdetail,31448,e,1254937953-31497,fernsteuerungen.servos.gasservo,sender_0012,,Tshowrubfernsteuerungen.servos.gasservo,.htm

i have now upgraded all my largescales with 5745 hitecs {LARGE} least they dont give me bothers.
i am now waiting on word back from them to repair servos.

i have standard diff in carson FG ALLOY & in my fg competition model viscous diff upgraded with extra shims & washers and filled with high temp greese,my nutech has the new nutech oil filled fiff & my beetle a standard fg alloy diff.

thanks man,yes like i say anytime i run the car i always plan to just leave camera at home, but when i go i have to take it with me lol  {{in case i miss something}} lol

i think i will upgrade the C5 in time to drft spec  {maybe}......

like i said waqr my friend, the weather could change one of the days and i may not run a car again for ages

regarding my above last post waqr would you know anything about ace servos??
what do you use?

I've never had to contact their support for any reason, all the servos of theirs I've ever had, some over 6 years old, are working now like the day they were knew.

I can kind of see where they're coming from though, if you use the rubber grommets with the brass inserts, there wouldn't be a screw head mark on the plastic. Using the grommets on a servo this strong is absolutely 100% necessary. If you don't the servo will break for sure.

but the thing is i was using the grommets on them and the brass inserts.....

i had them tight yes,but do you also agree with them that servos should be fitted a little loosely??

i wouldnt think so,cause if something is left a little loose,it gets looser........

So, I will continue my answer regarding your choice of pipe in this thread instead. Yes, I do think the Samba would fit your engine great. I`m extremely satisfied with mine (both the way it performs and the way it looks) However, remember that this is the only pipe I have used on my FG Monster so I haven`t that much to compare with really.

As you know I am using the Dominator V2 on my Baja and that is one sick pipe I can tell you that As you probably are aware of DDM also makes these pipes for the FG MT. They have two versions, this top end pipe:

http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/c.885035/n.1/it.A/id.1657/.f

and this torque pipe:

http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/c.885035/n.1/it.A/id.1664/.f

I have only heard good thing about these too. May be worth trying.

thanks for the links

yeah i have seen them alright but the thing is are they still a little restrictive in space compared to samba??

i think the samba may be my best choice, the ddm dom pipes are noted for being LOUD maybe even louder than my j.pro.

bottom line waqr is the reasons i am changing from my jetpro is i had little room to access the beetle with it on,it was a pain in the behind to mount it on car as there is a slight bend at manifold which requires a lot of time putting in head bolts.....then the noise was the most anoying thing it was ear splittingly loud lol

how is thesamba for quitness or are all these offroad performance pipes loud?

Well....the Dominators are extremely loud. I bet they are louder then your Jetpro There are several quite pipes out there such as Mielke, FG:s own 3 chamber pipe, Lauterbacher pipe etc.......

The Samba is a bit quiter than your Jetpro and is doesn`t take that much space on your car. See my picture:

man this is going to be expensive but well worth it,i have gone this far so why stop looool

then to get it to the beach and set up track.

this is the current position of my beetle,i havnt run it in over two months ahahhhh i miss it,but cant run this engine with stock clutch as its poo........just cant handle the power....

Yes, it is mounted to the rollcage just above the left rear shock (seen from the back). Are you really sure you should get the Lauterbacher 3 shoe clutch? I have read a few bad things about it:

http://www.hpibajaforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69640

http://www.hpibajaforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68136&highlight=lauterbacher

I think that the 4 shoe Lauterbacher would be a better choice for you my friend. Just a warning since it would be a shame if you wasted your money on an expensive clutch that didn`t work properly.

Hey man, isn`t what the forum is all about (helping eachother out)

I have no personal experience with this clutch but as you can see in the links there are several people out there having trouble with the Lauterbacher 3 shoe clutch.

But I guess that the Lauterbacher 4 shoe would fit into your FG just as good, right?
