ehirobo ehirobo -> Walkera Lama 2Q1 review (9/29/2009 6:29 AM)

Intro:
Walkera had very aggressive lately after the launch of the 4G3 double brushless, 4G6 and now is time for the co-axial. The Lama 2Q1 is the latest scale co-axial scale helicopter from Walkera. Don’t let the name foul you as this helicopter is slightly bigger than the Lama 2. Making it more stable and easier to fly for beginner pilots.

Feature:
The main rotor diameter is slight bigger than the lama2 (200mm vs 175mm). Makes the helicopter more stable during flight. One cool feature about this model is they add a working tail rotor. Which makes it more realistic during flight. And the detailed fuselage feature air scoop and cool fin to provide better cooling for motors and the 4in1. And as with new Walkera helicopter it comes with the new 2402 transmitter. With large LCD display and back light makes it very easy to operate. The only thing I don’t like about this tx is it still use 8 AA batteries. Which makes it kind of heavy for some pilots. Personally I like it heavier as I think I am more stable with heavier tx.

Test flight:
Like most other co-axial helicopter this one is very stable. The helicopter will just follow your stick input. It is kind of slow compare to smaller helicopter like the Lama2#1. But it makes it very stable so I think it is good for pilot just starting to fly and can get a feel of how RC helicopter handle. Or someone simply wants to fly around inside the house this should be a good choice too. One thing I don’t really like about this heli is as it is quite heavy it doesn’t have much power. But maybe it is good for novice pilot as this translate into a heli very easy to fly. But if you are more experience may like to have more power.

Conclusion:
A nice little micro heli to have fun with in your living room when it rain outside. Just the right size to be stable and small enough. It would be nice if walkera can use only 4 batteries in the transmitter to makes it lighter. And as they are so small sometimes it is a little hard to work on.

Pro:
Highly detailed fuselage
Working tail rotor
Stable flight
Nice LCD transmitter

Con:
The transmitter is a little heavy
A little hard to work on as the small size and fuselage.
