Just wondering if I could use the hobby zone 8.4V battery in the ZZ without hurting something? I heard it was built on the Firebird XL electronics and I know it can handle 8.4V... Stock voltage is 7.2? The 8.4 pack is slightly larger but I think I could hold it down in the stock tray... Anyone every tried? It should add a little more speed

I am not sure about this, but if it is anything like a HobbyZone Firebird II/XL id should be a problem. From my experience, the circuit from these two looks identical, and they probably are to decrease prduction costs. Id would try it..............if you dont want to take the risk, send an E-mail to hoby-zone or some one experience with these Circiuts.

It is fine. I do it all the time with my ZZ. There is not much difference in performance though.

I do it also, but I do see a performance gain

I notice a gain with my aerobird when I run the 8.4, but that is a plane and not a boat. I'll try it tonight and see if it moves a little faster.
