Saw this buggy at LHS and was wondering if anyone has one and what they thought about it. 1/8 scale and looks like a monster. I have heard it is as durable as the savage but never seen one out of a box.

ShOzz-

IMO the XTM X-Terminator is a nice buggy for bashing with some potential for racing (not out of the box however). There really are some nice features on the buggy. With the upgrades coming to the 'Deluxe' version due out this month I wouldn't hesitate to get another.

There are plenty of hop-ups available and they seem to keep an active stock at Global and HobbyPeople (online).

The engine isn't ROAR legal (obviously), but it is a very strong pulling, fast engine that's fun to bash with.

The only real complaint I have is the top of the gear case wear the shock tower mounts is a bit weak at the dog ears. There is a chance it will break if you land too hard on the lid/wing. Other than that it's a tough little bugger; I've rolled, flipped, cart-wheeled, you name it and it's hung in there.

Great buggy for the price.

Sling, I you seem knowledgeable enough so I'll ask yah. I am looking into the OFNA Ultra LX pro. It is fairly cheap but I only plan on bashing it to death. HOwever, I hear it may bee too cheap. What is your opinion on the OFNA ultra LX pro?

MyMonkey-

I've heard good, I've heard bad. In all fairness, that seems to be the trend with any buggy that isn't sold in kit form for more than $550. Yes, it would be nice to have a $2000 buggy to 'play' around with - but for the average basher this is but a pipe dream.

So, with that said I think the OFNA LX Pro isn't a bad choice for you. I've run three different OFNA's in the past few months (none of which I own) - the LX Pro, the 9.5 RTR and the Hyper 7 PBS. I have to admit I liked them all. Yes, the LX Pro is less expensive and some of its components certainly reflect this fact. But I had no complaints (neither did the owner) regarding durability. I also was impressed by the Force 25 engine. Not a bad little mill, and well suited for bashing. The only complaint the owner had was with the 6mm front dogbones. If I'm not mistaken (and you can confirm this on OFNA's message forum) these can be upgraded fairly cheaply to 8mm CVD's. Don't take my word on it, but I am 70% sure. I guess the 6mm are a bit weak and are prone to bending. The Tx could stand to be upgraded, but it did its job well enough.

It really is a matter of getting what you pay for, but keep in mind that 'getting what you pay for' is spread out over performance, durability, quality, customer support, speed, electronics, etc. - not all of the above would necessarily suffer from low cost.

For the money, it seems awfully tough to beat, but you may also want to consider the HB Lightning. I admit, I'm only mentioning it because I've heard very good things and not a lot of bad things, which is impressive for a first production run buggy, however I've never run one. AND some parts from the Kyosho 7.5 are interchangeable (sounds like good potential and readily available spares). For $350 it's worth considering.

thank you very much for the info.

i think i have changed my mind on what i am getting.
i had planned to get two nitros, a savage and a NMT (HPI).

now i think that a Savage would be better rounded out with the xtm XTerminator or the Ofna ultra mbx pro.

any opinions on this?

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXAXV1&P=V

would you still stand by the XTerm over it for durabilty and ease on getting replacements for broken parts?

any idea which has more power off the line or top end as well?

again thank you for your help

The only complaint I hear with the LX Pro, and it's cheap to fix, is the small diameter drive shafts. Theyre 6mm versus 8mm for all the other OFNA buggies. Have a tendancy to bend or break. But you can always buy the shafts for the Ultra MBX Pro and they fit right on.

Then again for 70$ more you can get the MBX to start with.

i have been debating these two non stop in my mind all day and after some research online it seems the ofna has many more hop ups available.

the xterm might one day and is a good car from what i have seen but unless your living near a hobby people it's gunna be an ordeal to find parts.

seems almost everyone carries Ofna MBX stuff. hope it is as durable.

if all goes right 8 more days and i'll have one. woohooo!!!

Stop. Get the Hot Bodies Lightning Pro. It is a top quality buggy for a very low price. For what I got I cant believe I spent under $350. Ridiculous is one way to describe it. Superb is another way. The buggy is currently the best bang for your buck in all of r/c.

Well, the Lightning Pro is 369 right now @ Tower ARTR. That is without radio, servo's n all. Cant see spending that much for a basher even if it is a good car.
