Can anyone comment on the Hobbico rotating retratacts? I am building an old Top Flite p40 kit and expect it to be at about 8lbs.

Are these retracts strong enough, do the extend beyond 90 degrees? How do they compair to Robart 615s?

I have a set I just installed in a Kyosho Corsair. I'm not overlly impressed with them. They seem o.k., but the axil doesn't seem very secure in it's mount, keeps wanting to turn just a bit.

I haven't flown with them yet, and I also cannot comment on the 615. Normally I use pneumatics.

IMO, they are NOT strong enough for .60 size, 8 lb aircraft. I have a set with over 1000 flights, in my DynaFlite FunScale 40 Corsair. That Corsair weighs 5 1/2 lbs, and the Hobbicos have worked great. BUT, I do feel they are not capable of the additionl strain imposed by heavier aircraft. For one thing, the strut wires are 5/32" dia., whereas Robart 615s have 3/16" dia strut wires. I have the 615s installed in my 8 lb, 10 oz Top Flite Corsair.
I suggest you do a search here at RCU, this topic has been covered in great detail before, and some of us do not have the time to repeat everything that has already been said. When you find a post that addresses your questions, you can post a reply to bring it back to the top if you like.
