Anyone on the list owns a Cessna from Wendell Hostetler? I would like to build one of the Cessna's (150/152, 172) but would like some input on these planes first. Any information would be grealty apreciated.

Thank you.

I built the 150/152 several years back and flew it with floats. I was a pretty nice flying plane but the plans sucked. everything was crammed on a couple sheets and was hard to figure out what was what. now they were nicely drawn and the plane flies nice its just a nightmare trying to figure out the plans.

I beleive the progression of the Hostetler Cessna's were the 152 plans, then the 182 plans and finally the 172 plans came out this year.

Hostetler's plans have improved some as he went along. The 152 plans are a bit confusing, the 182 are a lot better, and I assume the 172 are better still. I haven't seen the 172 plans yet, but I do have a set of his 182 plans, although mine will be modified into a 180. I would suggest building the 172 or 182.

His wing is very easy to build and you can make the ailerons and flaps just about any way you want. The tails are not very difficult to build either. The only difficult thing about his plans are figuring out the fuselage. He builds a box, then adds the fuselage shape around it. Sometimes it is hard to figure out exactly where that box is on the plans. Take your time looking them over and develop a game plan in your head on how everything will go together. Once you do that, the Cessna should be an easy build.

Good Luck

Don's Hobby Shop sells a complete kit for the Hostetler 150/152, with all the wood, glass, & nose strut, for about $490. It's not listed on their site, but I called and talked to them about it a couple of weeks ago.
