Good thing it's something NEW this time. Unfortunately Traxxas hyped it too much. Their website has crashed, presumedly from the flood of eager fanboys.

I was considering making this thread, but you did a better job than I woulda, since the traxxas website won't load at all for me

Any idea how much yet?!

Found this on another site

"Suspension geometry is new and specific to Slash 4X4. Nothing wacky, just good design. The engineers spent a lot of time getting the roll centers and such dialed in, both on the computer and with real-world testing. It was fun to see the various prototypes gradually zero in on the final design. Smart dudes in engineering, I'll tell you what! Slash 4X4 has the same Ultra Shocks as Slash 2WD, but with new progressive-rate springs (they're stiffer).

It'll be under $400, but the price hasn't been dialed in yet.

Expect these bad boys to be in shops for early December. C'mon Santa!"

I don't see why anyone would want this over an e-converted slayer or an sc8e

Single battery is a big selling point for me.

Most people who run electric slayers or the SC8e run single high voltage lipos. But I see your point, a 4x4 1/10 single battery is rarer.

This is 1/10th scale, the sc8e isn't (and I have one... actually a converted rc8t eh)... so that tosses the sc8e out. Being that the slayer was built for a heavier nitro engine, it probably weighs more the the 4x4 slash even in converted form. And the fact to race electric 4x4 SCTs you'd have to do a conversion, this is out of the box electric and 4x4... so right there plenty of good reasons.

Chop, cut, rebuild The chassis might have to be made of metal. I'm not sure you could jang the stocker that much while maintaining a reasonable amount of durability.

looks like the traxxas website is starting to come back up (for me anyway, still slow)

Tons of info out there on it...apparently the MAMBA MONSTER will drop right in, and it'll go about 80mph......whew

I think it looks pretty nice

Depending on the price I might be tempted to actually buy traxxas vehicle when I get some spare cash.
Like others I wish I would have seen this a few weeks back I would have bought this instead of the buggy I got(and I am not too happy with).

I really like this truck. I may end up selling my Slash later to get the 4X4 model.

I'm excited about this. I can see Slash 4x4 spec races popping up along side Slash 2wd spec races now.
Makes you wonder how it makes the other manufacturers feel, seeing as how most of them just put out a brushed, 2wd SC truck.

this is the traxxas that will make me buy my first traxxas product in almost 20 years (last one was a nitro hawk back in about '90)

i did notice something funny in the video posted by "dialed in" above though.

at the 45-46 second mark one of the trucks starts cutting a tight donut, and only the rear tires appear to be roosting. its very obvious at the 48-49 second mark.

why is this i wonder???

I'm really curious about the initial pricetag. If Tower has a Rustler VXL at $285; then you gotta figure that with 2.4Ghz, a 4wd drivetrain, killer body and wheel/tire package, and a 7 cell battery & charger included then we could be looking at $400 or better. That is what concerns me. There's no question whether or not it's a significant vehicle that will have all the other manufacturers scrambling to build some competition, but at what cost? It looks like a killer ride, but I hope Traxxas doesn't send folks into sticker shock. A big part of what made the original Slash a hit was the $200 pricetag, making it affordable for many to get into the hobby for the first time.

I think it would be a great idea if they also came out with a "bind and drive" combo. That would drop the price a bit, which is good. Hopefully the bind and drive wouldn't have the battery or charger, since I'm sure it will be their crappy wall charger.

I can plainly see the inside front tire spinning and ballooning in the video in HD. Maybe you need glasses?

Still cheaper than an SC8. (I know. Not in the same league, but it is the closest competition at current)
It uses a bunch of recycled parts so the actual cost might not increase that much with the "goodies".
