Here is a friends Don Smith. 3W 212 on canisters 72lbs. Sorry I can't give any info on the build, but I do know he was not pleased with his kit cutter.

there are some builds out there, look at r/c scalebuilder. i looked into it a few years ago and from what i remember it is a rather complicated build and several discrepencies on the plans. Can't go wrong with the Meister, simple build and beyond excellent flyer. Jeff

Yep, this is Manny's 1/4 scale awesome P-47. I attached a video of this giant. Manny is very pleased with this airplane - and as you can see it is an very nice flier. For a long time I'm eye balling a 1/4 scale Jug. But you can not have everything (sounds like mom hahaha).
Let us know what you decide and post here the build!

This plane is one of my all time favorites. I got one in the oven that should be done by the end of the month. Planning on Moki 250 for power and maybe a Solo 4-blade prop, if I can get some performance data on this engine/prop combination. Would be interested in your for techniques for detailing the surface (panel lines and rivets).

Hi, I am also interested in building the Don Smith P-47, can you give the cowl dimentions as I intend to use the Evolution 260cc 7 cylinder if it will fit. The engine is 320mm dia I believe.
cheers Dave

Hi David, thanks for the quick response. Its going to be tight but I will go for it, I may have to move the engine back a bit and using a solo hub will help. They are a beast of an engine to look at, I have not run it up yet, will wait until I get on with the build.

thanks Dave

Yes I have heard it will fit but you need to fit blisters around the cowl to give clearence for the tappets to work, the one I've seen has a chequered cowl which hides the appearence. I have also shelved my P47 for a while due to funds but I was using Premier UK Retracts, mains & tail wheel with the option of electric on the mains.
