I'm thinking of ideas to cover the face of the mold with, because formica won't fill in that groove and bend to the shape of the gear. I was thinking of trying to put some monokote on the face. With the formica, it covers up some inperfections in the mold face and it gives a "best fit line" kind of thing, like when you clamp it the formica touches the other piece of fomica. So monokote might not work well if you don't get the mold face absolutely perfect. Let me know if you guys know what i meen, please. I think this could be a pretty good idea in making high strength gear.

Try mylar and contact cement. Heat the mylar to shape with a heat gun on the face of the mold, then use the contact to adhere it to the mold.

clarification:

make first side or mould you clay around bottom then pour epoxy over then let dry

then remove clay and add epoxy then pour otherside

then insert steel rod and lay carbon and epoxy then clamp sides together??

is this it?

i got the landing gear though so thats a plus
