Question for ya Mini Boy , that Voyager Landing gear looks to have loops for battery mounts on it is that where your battery is under neath on those loops, cause if that's the case I get the gear and battery mounting and balancing should be a piece of cake

Hi Z!

I think that your charger will be fine ... It may be a bit slow, but it shouldn't cause you any grief. As I said earlier, try it on 3 amps (or so ) for the first couple of charges on each pack, then go to the 5 amp setting. Be SURE not to leave the charger / battery unattended, and keep a touch on the temp of both for the first few charges, in case something goes a bit haywire.

And, YES, the Voyager landing gear has oval shaped loops for the battery, and makes changing packs a 30 second (MAX) project, along with allowing for a piece o' cake balancing mechanism! As with the Fusion motor, I never put the stock gear on my Corona.

Keep in mind, all these great mods came from ingenious, experimenting guys on these terrific forums, not my own inventions.

Happy and Safe Choptering,

Russ

Just one more thing (for now) anything I should know about mounting the Voyager gear or is it pretty strait forward, I decided not to wait and orderd it up so I can put it in right from the begining to make things right from the start.

Hi Z!

Putting the Voyager landing gear on now is going to make life a lot easier on you for several reasons ... the battery location is the most obvious one, but the higher gear also gets the tail rotor and extra inch of the ground / grass and it will aid in balancing the machine more easily, also.

I just did a search for [Corona+Voyager=gear] and only came up with two posts wit no pictures. I will take a couple of pics and post them in a couple of days.

Happy Constructing,

Russ

Z !

Your'e NOT going to have any problems if you do the following:

TAKE YOUR TIME !!!

Read the EXCELLENT construction manual THOUROUGHLY at
each step before starting that step, and DON'T jump around.

If something doesn't make sense, get on this forum and ask ...
there are a BUNCH of guys here that have already done the
same thing your'e doing ... don't be afraid to ask. I think it
was Spiro who said "the only stupid question is the one you
didn't ask!"

Someone wrote "the Corona is an 'assembly' project, rather than a 'build' project". It really goes pretty smoothly.

When you get to the swashplate and also the tailrotor, there are a couple of little "tricks" to make those assemblies go easier. I also saw a great idea to eliminate the servo extensions, which of course are three more loose connections to NOT have to worry about. I'll fill you in at the appropriate time.

You're gonna have a BLAST!!!

Chat later,

Russ

That's a good idea because it's easier to do the mounting from the get go rather than doing it after it's built. Basically, you'll have to make an extension for the rear which you can do with left over wood from your crutch assembly. You'll need a dremel or something of the sort to cut the wood. You can zip tie the front to the crutch assembly with no mods.

Here's a pic of mine, not a real close up but you can get an idea.

I still used the stock battery mount because personally, just for cosmetic reasons I thought it looked nicer with the battery hidden but I made a mount which I got the idea from fellow ezoners so that battery change took all but 10 seconds and the canopy didn't have to be removed. If you do use the Voyager E gear to mount your battery, it'll be best to fabricate a little mount because you won't be using the rear mount on the Corona, it's not hard at all, the best way that I've found is to run a strip of steel or wood across the top of the LG between the mounts and ca it to the LG, have the front of the strip protrude from the front maybe an inch or so and use velcro straps for the mounts which you place in the center of the lg and one right in front of the front strut. I also put some foam insulation, the kind you use to insulate windows and door edges with adhesive on one side, beneath the strip to pad the battery and help hold it in place. You can cut off those stock plastic mounts, I did that on my Actual Voyager E to accomodate the lipo cells which didn't fit in the mounts and it's much better, battery change is yet even faster and more solid, plus you don't have to mess with rubber bands to hold the plastic mount which I thought was a pain. I wish I had a pic of it but I didn't take any close ups and i just sold my VE, I think I can find one of someone who did something similar.

I'll also post a pic of my stock battery location mount...

here's a pic of my stock battery location mount if you want to keep it in the stock location. It was my preference on the Corona because the Corona looked more clean with the battery out of sight which I liked and battery change was super fast, maybe 5-10 seconds.

BTW, check out Ezone, www.rcgroups.com, do a search on corona, corona lg, corona landing gear, or corona battery mount etc. You'll find a LOAD of info with pics and all, there are a lot of Corona'ers there....

Thanx Guys looks like it's a triangle shaped piece notched I asume to fit over the crutch and down enough to mount the gear level looks OK, I've down loaded the PDF Manual and I'm starting to go over it gotta love PDF's . after fiddling with my HBird for the past month I'm shure this is going to be much better, plus I'm not going to rush this like the HBird tired of ordering parts every other week and waiting for delivery more down time then up

I hear ya barkin' there big Z!

Yea, put that PDF near the potty, and read the whole thing through ONCE, pretty thouroughly. Don't try to memorize it! When you get the kit in, you'll be ahead of the game by a day or two.

Just take your time!!!

Russ
