OH ... Tell me about it. Planned on taking the old Chrysler to a car show yesterday, which was the nicest Sunday all year, and wound up baby-sitting the grandson! Oh well, that was fun, but it sure put a damper on the "planned" day.

Progress is good on your Corona. Keep up the good work.

Happy building,

Russ

Yeah, them floors are a PAIN??

At any rate, your progress is excellent ... slow & steady. I like that.

No major kinks or questions??

I had a nice discussion with a self taught slime heli dude from the Thompson CT area today, and he said he never crashed! (.30 size machine) He certainly had his share of tip-overs, scraped up's and chewed up main blades, but NO crashes. He also was an experienced "plank" flyer, so he knew not to let the heli get too far away so as to get disoriented and that sort of stuff. He said the biggest challenge (and I've learned thiis the hard way) was to not CUT the throttle when you think you're in a "situation", rather, throttle down a bit, depending on the situation, and at worst, let the machine SLOWLY sink rather than fall out of the sky!!

He agrees with the "Radd Theory" of spending the first 20 or so flights / packs hovering nose out for three or four packs, then left side in for three or four, then right side in for three or four, etc. Get yourself really bored. THEN you can get into some figure 8 patterns, and fiddle around with forward flight.

I'm getting long winded again ... damn, I do that well!!

O.K., time to hit the hay,

Chat soon,

Russ

No major kinks or problems so far, I've really been impressed with the quality of the parts so far and the instructions. I've gotten some experience with the small parts from my HBird (which is still broke) haven't wanted to repair it yet as all focus and funds are devoted to the Corona. My own experience on planks was limited but so were the flying areas but after a taste with the HBird I haven't wanted to go back, I hate to admit it but I only started R/C in Dec. this past year but have gained so much from the posts it's really amazing what you can learn

Hi Z!

Yes, the kit is well designed and the fit of most of the parts is excellent. The construction manual (flight manual too) is very well written and illustrated.

And yes, these forums are terrific. I've dabbled in R/C from time to time for 20 years, and have learned more on these bulletin boards in 6 months than I learned in the last 19 and a half years!

Chat later,

Russ

VE gear will be in on the 29th everything else tomorrow so progress is good the most time consuming thing will be balancing and final assem. with all the adjusting and all, only thing that has me concerned so far is the HH Gyro, I've never used one only a yaw rate so I don't know what to expect

Astro:

Yes ... that "Other Bulletin Board" is very heavy into electric powered stuff. I've learned a ton about heli's and "planks" there and have a Hobbico Superstar EP on order from Roffee's as a result. Am also digesting as much as possible about LiPoly tachnoogy. THAT is going to be the next wave, when the $$'s get into a bit more comfortable level.

Z! ... your canopy looks great, and you certainly are moving right along. I also wanted to compliment you on your photos, nice and clean, decent contrast and lighting .... good work!!

Russ

Thanx Mini Boy, the pic's are shot with a Canon PowerShot S10 I got 2 yrs. ago, it dose a pretty good job for a 2.1 megapixel rig but I guess now there up tp 3.5 and above. Quick editing for the web is done with a combination of Irfan View and Polaroid PhotoMax. My 2 parkfliers are a GWS Picco Stick FD and an Herr Eng. AirBoss none of which have flown in 2 months since the Heli's
