Thanks AC,
The gyro is extremely heavy and powerful. For a beginner it works great. For someone with a little more experience all the added weight is not needed.
Thr gyro remains intact other than removing all the added 5 weights and retaining rings and screws.
This takes off almost 1/4 lb of weight and the bike bike actually becomes easier to handle and more responsive and a bit faster and the brakes work better.
The gyro is still there doing a great job but just less powerful.
I also think doing this mod is better for the whole drive train too not having to heave all that weight.

the manual states that removing the weights helps also but you have to do it in an equal format to remain balanced..

Man i want to see one of these!

Microdan- So I just want to get this straight you removed the weights in rear wheel and left everything else?? I ask because the changing of direction with the stock setup is a little slower then I'd like.

Goomba7,
Yes, I opened the rear wheel, have the manual near by :-) remove the retaining rings and screws and weights. Leave all those parts out, weights, rings and screws. Reassemble.
Now go for a ride.

I did this for the head shake (tank slapper)
A TTN steering damper installed and now it's rock solid.

I ran it pure stock on a grassy field & baseball field. It was bouncy as you say the rear spring needs heavy oil and more spring preload. And the head shake as it hit little divots of grass and such made it look like a wheel wobble machine. On the dirt infield it just cuts a groove in the dirt for the whole length with the rear tire
I used 1000 wt diff oil, stretched the spring about 1/4" used a TT spring spacer and moved the shock to the first hole in the frame.
It's much better now but not perfect. The suspension is just too soft from the start. On road it goes good no matter how the suspension is.
I have not ridden off road since installing the steering damper. I'm sure it's going to make a big improvement as it did on road.

Yes the damper is from a stock Thunder Tiger Nitro 1/5 Ducati. You can buy them for about 6 or 7 bucks. You can use oil in them for more or less dampening, I think I left mine empty and just using the springs.

monsterbrad & muck76,
This bike is very impressive overall. It is well built, engineered and does what it's supposed to extremely well.
I don't know if you're aware of the STRESS TECH parts warranty. Certain ST plastic parts are covered for one year.
You break a ST part, return it and it gets replaced for free. They are standing behind the bike.
The plastic / polymer parts are extremely strong I can't believe how strong the plastic is.
Just my opinion but this is one of the best RTR's I've seen and run. Other than the few mods I've done it is RTR and only gets better with a few simple mods.
You have to remember you're getting a (basically) re-badged Anderson M5 and the M5 has a proven reputation.
Have no fear in this model, I know DuraTrax has had a few lemons and got known for DuraTrash.
But they have redeemed themselves with the DX450. I'm not to easy to please, I'm ecstatic about what they've done here.
I haven't had this much fun in a looooooong time. Get one and I'm sure you'll be more than happy

Speed Report with stock 3800kv motor.
I ran the bike today to see what a 16T pinion would do. 13T pinion is stock.
With a 2s lipo the speed went from 28.9 stock pinion to 33.0 mph on the 16T.
With 3s lipo the bike went from 33.8 stock to 40 mph on the 16T.
I thought this would also tame the wheelies down..... NOT!!! It still takes trigger control to keep the front wheel on the ground. The 16T pinion is going to stay in there
