Remembered to bring my small camera home today with a few more shots.

Nasa ducts are not shown, but are needed with stock tail pipe.

Scheme is improved with Inspiration decal on the wing...

Did you place the batteries and the air bottle like they show in the manual?

Depends on turbine, with Booster 80 you will need batteries in the nose.

Tint is RC CAR Colours made by GHIANT in Belgium!

Yes I did not have any Eurokit units in stock so used Behotec C36 with the AT Harpoon trailing link legs...nice and light.

Regards

Dave

T. Yep V quick, well thought out kit...well impressed so far.

Dave, Trevor,

Can you give me the maximum admissible width for the gear mount ? I want to know if a Behotec C40 can fit.

Best regards.

Stéphane

Stock its 25mm, but the gap could be made wider.

The only good solution! Powerbox Sensor switch. I will use two 2600 2s Li-Po packs in the battery sockets. I will use either a 6 cell 3700 Nimh ECU pack (as I'm using a gas start P70) or 2s Li-Po. This depends on the final C of G check

regards

Dave

An alternative is two 2 cell A123's plugged straight into the Rx via two Fromeco Kodiak switches, if you are a Futaba user then the Orbit Power block on the 6014 Rx, makes a nice neat install, I also use a 3 cell for my JetCat ECU, this all means I don't have to remove them to charge and if I need to re-charge on the field, it just takes 15mins as I can charge them at 10amps, not that I ever have 5amps is enough to get sufficient back into them during re-fueling for another couple of flights.

After a few days of little workshop action I've managed a couple of hours to install the P70. It's a bit tight as the length is long for the G80 designed ducting, but there is just enough clearance.

Rudder set up with "Geoff" tube on clevis. Good access to tank caps!

A good 24 hour period in the workshop has the Inspiration close to finished. Turbine cover on, most of the install is now complete-wish I had planned the switch position earlier!
Looking like I'll need either a Ni ECU pack or bigger Li-Po for a good C of G with the P70.
Canopy tinted, if the 30-50mph winds drop it could be flown tomorrow.
Build time is quick, instructions say 20-30 hours and that is possible with a drop in turbine size.

Final fit complete, SA air filler mounted, three ECU batteries in nose (2 x 2600 Rx and 1 x JC 2500 all Li-Po) two screws remove nose if I was jumpy about Li charging.

Final set up and c of g check is all that's needed.

Great Sunday!

The weather dawned as expected by the M&R crew, test flight day.

Take off roll was only 60m on the first TO, not one peep of trim! My first thought was, Spark...feels just like it

Groovy nice aeroplane, no KE couple, little elevator/rudder needed even in slow rolls...sweet aeroplane. P70 power is perfect, I'll weigh it later.
Only surprise was the amount of down needed with full flap. I had flown a Flash with the airbrake blade cut off the flaps, so expected the pitch up that occurs, but my model with 85degree flap needs a lot more than I expected...like 45% (4mm) I reduced the flap slightly for the last of four flights I did today and the "float" on landing was better...I need to play at Chalgrove in a couple of weeks and I'll find a perfect set up.
Landing speed is low! Great aeroplane!

Dave W

Trevor didn't get to do anymore as the problem seems not to be the carbon bell...but a fuel pump on the 15 hour P60...it still flames out-luckily on the ground!

Weight is 8.6kg with UAT full, so just under 19lb with the P70, lighter still with a Booster 80/Evojet 90 or SS.

Great looking pictures Dave

Well Dave kindly let me have a stir of the sticks once he had tweaked the set-up to his liking. All I can say is WOW! Top flying model.

No surprises that it flies like a mix of the Spark and Flash from CARF. Perfect power with the P-70.

I'll enjoy having another go in the near future

Steve

Dave, not wanting to chime in on a problem but is the pipe OK now? If you require a lighter option then we can make you a pipe to order, PM if we can help?
Looks a jolly nice jet, one day I will have to get a turbine, not just install them!

Ok, how about some video then?? Knife edge from horizon to horizon please ...or a verrry slow axial roll...not that I can do these but still

I have a Booster 80+ waiting for a nest...Inspiration worth a try? Or the good old Flash instead?

Any room for smoke system with at least 6-8dl smoke oil tank??

Thanks!

Janne

Simon...yes you too.

Janne.

I hoped someone would have a camera for the test flight, we need to organise ourselves better and have a camera each time! Soon we will do a video.
No room for smoke, I would like another 500cc of fuel as I'm used to aeroplanes doing 10 minute flights, at this time 8 minutes is all that is possible.

Dave
