Hi
I ouhr club peoples are talking about not using other brands for the Futaba fasst system , we also had a big Yak that went down and the reason was what I heard that the guy was using Hitec servos in it , ailron locked in the last turn into landing! He also was told that this could happend prior to the crash.
Has anybody some info on this, I was planning to use some JR servoes in my next plane ...but dont know if it is safe.

All I can say I have been flying JRs (8411/9411) for a year now with FASST Futaba receivers without any issues. Before installing the R6008HS I checked all I could (also Futaba's site) and could not find any info against doing this.

What I did notice is that Futaba states multiple times that the receiver must NOT be padded or build in in a way that prevents adequate cooling. So I guess there is (or was) an issue there. This is something your friend might want to check.

I have several 35% planes ALL with Futaba Fast gear. I only use JR servos, 8411s, 8611s 8711s. I have never had any issues to date. I fly with other pilots that use this same combination and am not aware of any problems useing fast gear with JR servos in their planes either. ......Gene

Rune,

If you are running one of the new HS receivers do not run it in high speed mode. This can cause some issues. Other than that, it should work fine.

I have been using FASST and Hitec servos together for a year with no problems.

Could have been a lot of things with the big Yak, especially with mulitple servos on one surface.

Hello Rune

I have mixed Futaba, JR/Graupner, Hitec, Savox/Align, HG .... the two last years with no problems at all.
I am planning to use a mix og JR and Futaba servos for my new model for the 2010 season. Will use 6014 or 617 FASST receiver. I have never felt as confident with my RC equipment as after I switched to FASST.... :-)

In my pattern planes I use Futaba 608 Rxs with a mix of Futaba and JR servos without any issues. On the Sebart Sukhoi 140 I use JR 8411 servos all around and one HiTec HS81 on throttle now issues at all with Futaba 6014. In foamies I use the 617 with a mix of Robbe, Graupner and Futaba no broblems here so far.

Najary I was so stressed when I saw this attachment from Savox, I just got 6 Savox 1256TG last week for my new 35% YAK and thought that I could not use them with FASST receivers. I was so relieved when I saw that was a confirmation letter from Savox...

Rgrds,
Nikos

I ran a 6008HS in an Abbra with all JR digitals with no issues. Even when I tried out the high speed mode I had no issues, but I also did not see any advantage to it either so I just reset to normal mode.

I also fly 2 gliders with FASST RX (608FS and 6014FS) and JR digital servos, again with no issues.

The issue was with the 6014 receiver and it was not the heat issue, that caused problems with some servos. On the 6014, the voltage on the signal wire is dropped to around 2V (not sure exactly what value, but it's markedly reduced compared to other receivers) on channels 3-14. The only servos that I am aware that had the problem if you plugged them in direcetly to the Rx were the Hitec 5955TG, and it wasn't all of them, just the older versions. If you had those or other servos ganged up on a "Y" harness plugged into channels 3-14 you would have an issue too.

I tested it myself on my equipment and what would happen is that the servo would become uncontrollable and just fluctuate from one side to another... If you used channel 1-2, no problem. Servos not on a "Y"? As long as they weren't certain Hitecs, no problem... Also did not affect the 608 receiver, or any other receiver. There are threads on this on other sites.

If you were having this problem, the solution was to either use a power distribution system, eliminate the "Y", or send your servos back to Hitec and have them modded. Later servos could operate with lower signal voltages. Futaba's response was don't use anything but Futaba servos. Nice huh?

But unless you are doing the above, it shouldn't affect you. If you have a problem, you will know right away after applying power and moving the servo.

Just leave your Futaba servos to me Rune, I'll take good care of them while you experiment with JR :-)
They'll go nicely with my new Futaba Fasst radio

The 6014 had a reduced voltage on some channels. That voltage was 2.7 volts versus 3.0 volts. The one and only brand of servos to have issues were some older Hitec models. Hitec acknowledged the issue and was doing upgrades for free.

The new 6014HS has 3 volts signal on all channels.

Beyond that, Futaba, or any other manufacturer for that matter, is only responsible for making sure their equipment works within their brand. JR will tell you teh same thing.

Having said that, I have never seen, experienced, or heard of anyone having an issue with any servo on a Futaba radio other than the Hitec/6014FS issue.
