Just wondering if regular paint thinner would work or if I need something special.

Maybe I should try rubbing alcohol??

I have some dried paint in my airbrush paint holder and although this stuff peels off easily, I'm unable to clean the nooks and cranies and need a liquid solvent.

LEt me know what you use!

thanks

Although, I have not painted any bodies yet myself, I have used this to clean several other types of paints from brushes, hands, and other containers.

Acetone - Smells really bad, but works wonders
Nail Polish Remover - Contains acetone (but usually does not smell as bad)
Lighter fluid - the variety used in Zippo lighters (not much odor, and I know it works on enamel paint like for model cars)

I have also read about people using spray on oven cleaner to remove the Paint from their lexan bodies when the paint came out wrong.

Let me know how it works out for you.

I hope I could be of some help,

Jacob

if its laquer based paint use laquer thinner. put some laquer in the container and let it soak and then shove a rag inside of it and twist it around. if you want to chip it off, a chopstick or toothpick might work. good luck

acetone.. not a good idea on lexan...... clouds it up.. I messed up a body.. tried using it.. took off the mask tape.. and blah it was horrible.. so now my dodge viper body is going to be used for bashing.. thought I'd give you a tip.. it works wonders on other things.. becareful with plastic things though..

if you want to take paint off GLASS and NOT lexan carb cleaner works awesome, but you'll have a blob of crumpled plastic if you use it on a body.

Carb cleaner sounds good!

Except.. I also have that damned straw! its plastic and I'm sure I dont want to make a lump out of it! I'll try the nitro..

I say DO NOT soak the body in laquer thinner!! It will turn the car body a white milky color.... And if you don't beleive me take a rag and soak it good in laquer thinner, then rub it good on your car body a watch it. TikiKustoms you nuts tell them that. I've been painting car bodies for 13 years now.

i agree with you 100% JustCanopies, but the question was how to get out paint from a glass paint jar, not off of the body. not trying to be sassy or anything, just wanted to clarify.

For cleaning your airbrush paint bottle: Don't use nitro fuel! It has oil in it and will mess up your future paintjobs. Use lacquer thinner. Most airburshes are made for using lacquer based paints so that should be fine,

For cleaning paint off lexan: Use fresh brake fluid on a rag. Works great.

Hope this helps...

I use automotive celulose thinners to clean my airbrush and jars out. Its powerfull stuff so id do it outside or wear a mask.

If I do get some overspray onto the lexan or make a big mistake that I cant cover up with a design change then metholated spirits will bring the paint off if you can do it before it dries.
It wont give a perfect result but it works if your desperate.
Meths wont damage the lexan if your carefull.
