What the? New CM36-4600 motor?
Well as some may know the rotor on my Castle CMS36-4600 motor broke off in my slash. Sent it in to castle, they sent me a new one back....and it is totally different.
It looks like the front end-bell is removable now, and it says 4S lipo max, as opposed to the last one which said 3S lipo max.
Of course I bout my set up a month or 2 ago, so castle may have made the switch/upgrade/change a while ago. Sorry if this is old news.

Wow............good lookin' and they finally fessed up to the fact that the 4600 could run 4s..................i see it says 100,000 rpms on the motor.................my word!! Are those functional bolts on the frontcap? And is it removable or is it super-duper epoxied on like the old 4600's?

I didn't try to remove any of the endbell screws, I figured...brand new motor, better run it a few times before I mess with it and probably destroy it
if you can see, the rear endbell has little grub screw lookin things in there.
overall, I like the new design (and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it was interesting)

I think ROAR approval (which they now have) requires that the motor can be broken down at the end of a race in order to inspect it for any kind of illegal modifications. In ROAR races past a certain level, I think this is done automatically for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners or something like that, and any kind of illegal modification fond disqualifies that racer.
Hopefully it's a total redesign... see if it runs cooler than your old motor. If they use what they learned by building the castle/neu 1/8th scale motors for the mamba monster, it might end up being a really good motor.

from the 2 very short runs I've done today just driving around, it does not seem to handle heat better.
I'm planning on hitting the track tomorrow for some fun bashing, I'll report some more temps then

I've been seeing illustrations of this new can and endbell for months now as part of the Mamba Max Pro ad campaign, but haven't seen any mention of it or pictures on the forums. I thought maybe it had been previously discussed and then interest lost. So I go and order a Sidewinder 4600 for my Blitz, crack open the box and surprize! Cool, robust looking 1/10 castle motor. The older CMS-36 looked pretty cheap as far as build quality goes. My friend crashed once and the endbell tore out of the old motor like it was a beer can. I'm really happy to see this. Hopefully things have been improved on the inside as well. I'm thinking HPI's Warp 5700 motor may have been an early version of this updated series? I also like the big on/of swith on the latest version of the Sidewiner ESC.
Is there any official information out there that discusses all the upgrades that went into the new CM36 motors?
