Status: offline 		Tomorrow a lucky guy is coming over to pick up my Sig 4 Star and all the other crap you have to have to fly a nitro airplane. I just want to charge the batteries and fly, so I'm making the switch. Thank you in advance for your suggestions. The following are what I am looking for:

-2.4 DSM2
-Available parts, batteries, upgrades
-Capable of slow flight (not a cub!)
-Wingspan of at least around 24" or so, the bigger the better
-Capable of landing on grass, no landing gear at all is ok
-Some acrobatic capability
-LiPo
-My target price range is around $400

That's about it. I am a decent pilot, not the best, but not the worst either, intermediate I would say. I'm considering all options from kits to rtf's to flat 3D foamies. I would like to be able to use the same transmitter with other airplanes in the future, but that's not a deal breaker. Thanks again!!

Status: offline 		T-28 is great. I fly gas stuff and started to get into elect. My T-28 and Mini Ultra stick are always with me.

Can't go wrong for ARF's.

Status: offline 		I decided on the PZ corsair RTF. Looked like the most bang for my buck & everyone seems to be happy with the airplane from what I've read in the forums.

sorry but I have to dissagree. Most bang for your buck? I don't think so.
At $279.00, that is ridiculous. I have less than half that in my plane
The Bananahobby AT-6 is a very good EPP foam plane and I didn't have to spend a small fortune to get it. I have crashed it several times with very minimal damage. Only broke the plastic cowl, which I bought 5 new ones at $1.50 each.

Status: offline 		Yes I do have less than $400 in my Unique including my radio gear. Just add up all the stuff I listed and there it is. $258.00 that is WAY under $400. If you don't like the Unique, you could get the Bananahobby AT-6 for $89.00 RTF, rip out all the gear and use all the stuff I Listed and it will only be $282.

Status: offline 		My target price range was 400. I bought the RTF Corsair for 277 shipped. That is everything I need in one package. Everything I was looking for is included, 2.4 rx & tx, esc, lipo batt., charger, servos, cool airplane. I can use most of this stuff in another plane if I want too. I looked at those bananahobby planes, but they were smaller (harder for me to see) and of lower quality. The Corsair flies like a champ, best of all I was back up in the air in 4 days after I sold all my other stuff. Those 3D profiles look cool too, looks like about 100 bucks or so for evrything you need from hobbylobby. On a plane like that I wouldnt mind going as cheap as possible.

Oh well, hope you have fun with what you got. That's what it's all about. I know I'm having a blast with my planes. I even feel better when I don't give my hard earned cash to companies that I think charge too much. I don't mind shopping around to get a better deal. I also enjoy putting in the hop up parts, it's kind of rewarding.

Welcome to the light side! Don't let Wheelnut rain on your parade. He spends way too much on his planes. I can build a great flying foam plane for $20. With all the good planes out there you cannot really go wrong. I have yet to fly an electric I did not like.

Status: offline 		Wheelnut: where can you get a DX6i with receiver for $150? The cheapest I've found is $199 and that is with the AR6200 full range receiver, which is probably too large to put into a parkflier.

This next one is a slightly used DX6i for $135.00 and since there is also a new one for the same price, then you might be able to get this one for a little less.

So that is a set-up for $175, that is only $25 more than I paid. I bought mine about 2 years ago, when it wasn't so popular and all of these little planes weren't out yet. If you look hard enough and mabye long enough, I'm sure you will find a similar deal.

Status: offline 		I'm sure if you look long and hard enough, you can find a deal somewhere. This is America, afterall. I'm just saying that the standard price for a new DX6i without a receiver is $150 before tax and shipping and with receiver, it's $200 before tax and shipping.

Status: offline 		Well I really wasn't looking for all the bells and whistles or anything top of the line. The 5xe seems to be doing exactly what I need it to do. I don't like getting caught up In the old "well, for 30 dollars more..." scenario. One thing is for sure walking out the back door to go flying sure beats driving to the rc club to do it, not to mention not having to pay AMA and club dues! Thanks again for the help.
