I'm looking for a technical idea to install a removable split rudder on my next plane.
Any suggestion welcome.

Do you mean split as in two side open up like an airbrake or split in to lower and upper portions?
Why removable?

Very simple. Build the 2 rudder halfs, then use the small dubro pin hinges and just alternate the hinges from one ridder to the other. Run a pin down through all of them. If you search the passport build thread that Todd Blose did a while back, you will see some great pictures.

It is neat. Chip only used his for knife edge, not for a brake. Todd Blose has flown both versions and said there wasnt much difference. But it does look REALLY cool. I've flown Chip's Passport with the split rudder and it didnt have any different feel than others I've flown. But Chip always makes sure to leave his plane sitting with it split, just for the cool factor.

I like the split rudder. I think the airplane tracks better when using it. I've flown my Pass-Port both ways and I prefer to use the split as much as possible. I only use full rudder on stall turns and spins.

I recently set my rudders so that they never completely touch at neutral. I leave a 3mm gap. I put 3mm spacers on the inside TE of my rudders so they won't blow back and touch. I find that this also improved the tracking and slightly reduced the downline speed.

I'll put this rudder configuration on future planes, I see value in it.
