pattoncommander -> advice on Tammy turret electronics. (11/7/2009 11:57 PM)

#1) I am converting my Tammy Sherman 105 to Israeli M-51. The muzzle flash wire is too short for that long Israeli 105....are longer ones available or can an extension be spliced onto the original one for the Sherman? I figure longer ones for Pershing or KT should be available from Tamiya. The gun tube length is 9 1/2 inches.

#2) in attempting to remove the emitter from the 105 mantlet, a wire broke and the bulb is in there rock solid. Can I get a gun clamp-on emitter and splice into the exsisting wires to the old one? I assume these are available for separate purchase.

Would appreciate any help/advice. Not much into electronics, but these two things seem to be straight forward and not complicated.
Still have a lot of work to do including making that big turret counterweight and waiting for other accesories to come in, but its coing along nicely.

Thanks

Bill

Really neat IDF Sherman and yes, you can splice an extension into the Sherman flash, no problem. If you aren't comfortable with soldering, email me for a name of someone on your coast who will make your existing Sherman flash unit work for the new barrel length for around 20 bucks or less. You also can find the expensive KT flash unit online or search ebay for better deals (Tamiya tank DMD):

In the past, to avoid using the clip on device, I have drilled out a dead LED blub glued stuck in a mantlet, first starting with a micro drill bit and the thing will eventual crumble to dust if carefully done, leaving a clean mount hole behind. I have a spare Tamiya LED emitter, email me if needed. I also have a spare Tamiya clip on device if you'd rather go that direction.
