I can start my engine with the reciever off, I just have to make sure the throttle is at idle

The receiver doesnt effect your engine, all it effects are the servos. when Im racing ill start my engine without any of my electronics on to tune, I just rev the engine by pulling the linkage.

but if your throttle servo isnt in the idle position, you will put alot of 'load' on the engine. So when I just start my engine, I turn the electronicsw on then off, too make sure everything is in idle position

Why should I forget that ..........

The receiver does not play any role in starting the engine for as long as the servo is at the neutral position or slightly on the on accelerator position. I start my engine by doing like this too, once the engine is running I can rev it up with out the aid of the radio.

The Rx does have something to do with the engine! A lot of times you have to hold the throttle wide open to get it to just start and then let it purr. If you think you are holding the throttle open and you are not, then it gets frustrating!

Also, if you have too much fuel and too little air, the engine won't start.

The RX does not effect the engine. The servo is the only thing that effect the engine which is powered by the RX.
