I have a simple Futaba 2 Ch. FM radios with a micro receiver that I'm planning on using for my boat, but was wondering if there's an advantage to shelling out a couple hundred for some 2.4 ghz model.

sooo, with that said, what are you guys using so I get a rough idea of what I should get, if anything at all!

Futaba Tx - 3PMX and Rx R603FS - 2.4g

Knowing that no one is on your frequency. Converted all my planes and heli's to 2.4g also(Futaba). Had glitches on FM radios that resulted in crashes. No problems with my BJ55 when I had JR FM radio, but its still in the back of your mind.....

yah! that's exactly why i'm considering changing over. I don't want some guy to be walking by with something and all of a sudden my boat goes haywire or something.

M11 on 2.4 GHz here. I've had no issue with range or interference.

The M8 can have the module swapped out to their new FHSS 2.4G system. 60 bucks for an M8 isn't bad at all if it's in good condition.

4PK FASST for me and a 3PKS FASST for my wife...the security in transmission and control for a 20 lb, 40-50MPH missle is well worth it for any spectators' safety and my hard-earned $. I have watched a friends boat hit the shore WOT and heard of another whose boat went WOT into a dock...both TOTAL LOSSES. Thanks goodness no one was hurt.

I was planning on picking up a 3PM FASST when I stumbled onto a 3PKS that was hardly used for cheap with some 1/4 scale servos...

Spend the extra $$ and you will never be dissapointed or disgusted with the purchase...I promise.

I'm switching to a 3PMX with the FS receiver soon, I have my Enforcer outfitted with the below right now!

The EKG “Engine Kill Guard” is a new product designed by; Frank Ackinno and Tony Castronovo of Warehouse Hobbies Inc
prompted by a overseas customer to produce a device that is actually mandated in Europe, that will shut a gasoline ignition down in the event of low radio (receiver) batteries or worse a complete loss of power.

"Overtemp Kill Guard" New! from Enforcer Mfg Co.
Easy to install device attaches to your Zenoah water jacket as shown. Connect the black coil tap wire to one terminal and the second terminal to the engine block. Designed to stall the engine if water jacket temperature exceeds 180 degrees F.

and

"Radio Safeguard"
New for 2008, Micro Fail-Safe. Automatically throttles your engine down in the event of a radio signal "glitch" or signal failure. Combine this with the new Enforcer "EKG" and you will all but eliminate any potential radio failures.

I'm with Dan on this one
I've switched over to this Radio and love it.. Nothing like the feeling of having a built in failsafe !! Also no worry about frequency conflicts and the range is incredible !! Save your $ and go the FASST route.. Tom H.
