   Hi all

I just got home and guess what was sitting outside the front door?...My brand new M26 Pershing
I rushed it inside, giddy as a little kid on Christmas morning, started to open up the shipping box
O NO!!... inside was a Walker Bulldog box..  I took it out of the shipping box and opended it
up......WHEW... there was my pershing. ( I think I lost a life here)...So far everything looks
ok, want to open it up and make sure the 3:1 gear box Bill (RCCommand) said he was putting in at
no charge due to a shipping problem with UPS are in there, need to break them in any why. Well
I am going to go (anksush to play with tank). I will post latter. Oh I almost forgot Idid not get a
instruction book so I have to go search the internet.

Enjoy! When you take it apart to break in the gearboxes, let us know which motors are in it if you would.

How do you brake in the Gearbox? I thought when you run it you were doing that.
                                                                                                                                 Thanks;

   Hi all

Swathdiver it has the white caps motors. I just came in from back yard and the first test drive:

1;  Tank would not go through the grass unless I helped it, kind of disappionting seeing as it has 3:1 steel gear boxs?

2;   When I hit the connon shot button, tank fires recoils and starst to move backwards to the left?

I had the air soft switched off and the smoke switch set to the middle posistion between A & B.
other then that tank works fine, I just wish it would perform better in the grass.

You have no power. Cannot run 3-1 gearboxes with white capped motors. A Tiger sprocket turns 105rpms with such a set up when 268 is normal. Now there are a lot of aftermarket gearboxes out there now calling themselves 3-1, do you know exactly which ones you have?

The Pershing is tail heavy. To gain more tractive effort, you should add weight to the front of the tank for more even weight distribution. This will allow a greater length of track to "bite" into the terrain. About 1/2lb. normally does it. Fishing weights work good.

That being said, the low mount sprocket in back acts as a lawnmower chewing up grass and occaisionally fouling itself with thick roots/weeds. Weighing down the front will improve performance quite a bit.

Swath, these are the ones Bill at RCCommand sells for $79.00.   Except the ones he shows have the all metal cap motors.

Ok, those offer a modest gear reduction from 39:1 to 46:1 and coupled with the white capped Suntech motors would net about 1 mph in top speed according to the calculator.

Change to 8 tooth pinions with Graupner Speed400 motors (gotta have a fan blowing on board if using TK-RX13/14) and you'll pick up 1/3 mph and reduction would be 58:1.

Max scale speed for a Pershing is 1.56mph.

http://www.hobby-lobby.com/speed400.htm http://www.hobby-lobby.com/speed_400_7.2v_electric_motor_2565_prd1.htm On another site it has the 7.2 listed as using 7-9 cells which our tanks use 6 so not sure which one, maybe someone can add to this. or check tower hobbies also, the pinions you can get at any local hobby store or try the aforementioned

Cheers,
Wade
