I am looking at buying a new radio. I like the futaba 6exa. What is the difference between the 3004 and 3003 servos. I plan to use the 3004 (that come with the radio) On the sig 71" piper cub. Will this work well? Also I am not clear on PCM or FM. Is it worth my money to invest in pcm now or should i wait. And also i would like to know if this is a good radio.

thank you!

This appears to be a very nice radio at a very reasonable price.

I think the 3004 have a ball bearing supporting the output shaft instead of a bushing. Go to www.futaba-rc.com and look up the specs...

Yes the 6exa and what ever servos it comes with will work great!

I do not think it is worth the money for PCM for a Cub. I've been flying glitch free for years on nothing but FM receivers. I am about to move up to a DA-50 and will most likely get a PCM receiver for that model.

The Futaba 6exa appears to be a great radio for the price. It is nicely styled and is packed with features, including expo and useful mixing. e.g. flaperons, deltas, etc. About the only thing I don't like about it is a lack of alpha naming for each model memory. It will take some planning to keep the model memory number in sync with the model it goes to. Other than that I really don't think there is a more powerful computer radio available for less than $200.00USD...

Although I don't use Futaba anymore, I am impressed with the bang for the buck in the new 6 ch system.

One thing to consider, however, is the limits of a 6 ch. system with more complex planes. I had a 6Xas for about a year or less. It was a good system but I quickly found the need for a 7th channel for mixing, etc.

If you are looking to get into more complex aircraft, it might be wise to look at 7 channels or more. I opted for an eight channel system and am glad I did.

For an additional $150USD, I would go with the 9C. More mixing options for a 8 channel PPM radio. (also 9 channel PCM)

I second the 9C if you can get that one.

As far as PCM, if you can afford it, get it. I fly just about everything on it. PCM has saved at least 2 of my planes that I know of and probably a few I don't. It is worth it on any plane as far as I am concerned.

Here is a link for futaba stuff. Click on the servo tab and it will give you all the specs on futaba servos and what they are used for and all the other specs. Great help.
