Sat 14th Nov
Alvin RC Club's first Club 40 race was a huge success, we had 16 pilots with guys from as far as Waco / Austin area as well as great support from Texas City Club who provided the lap counting boards and several pilots too. @ 45 lunches were served so there were plenty spectators present as well as those unsung heros that did the timing, cut judging and general working that these events need to make them a success, thanks to everyone.
The 5 rounds were packed with very close racing and lots of excitment, there were several wing touches, a landing gear removal during a zero altitude ground clipping, a couple of pilot error crashes, a 1/4 wing removal and still landed event and one impresive mid air disaster (one of the mid planes was mine, sorry, cant remember the name of the other unfortunate pilot, however, we both had spare planes !).
We had two elimination rounds, although Don Roccoforte was pushed out of the top three automatic finalist slot on best times by Bob Pertonec, he took first place in the second elimination round to join the final race.
In the final, the Honors went to Bob Petronec 1st with larry Curry 2nd, Don Roccoforte in 3rd and Mike Walther 4th, I beleive a cut took Mike out of the trophys but it all worked out well as he took the FTD trophy with a 1.31.
Thanks again to everyone, cant wait till next year, perhaps we can run a series in South Texas and a big final event to crown a King of the Hill ?

Sorry I missed the Race; too many Non RC projects that need to be done; lets hope the race in Alvin can be part of the schedule next year.

Doug.

Thanks to Steve and the Alvin club. They did an outstanding job. Their field is very good for Club 40 racing; and their people are gracious, friendly and put on an excellent race.

I look forward to their next race.

Ken thanks for the photos.

Thanks for the report, Steve. And the pictures, Ken. Oldbob knows what he is doing and I'm sure you were as glad to have him there as he was to be there.

Sixteen is a great number of participants. Isn't it fun!!!!!

Things are looking good for introductory racing in your area. Keep up the good work and keep it fun.

Thank you Alvin RC for a great race, and thanks to the Central Texas Group for driving 3+ hrs and giving us good competition. I enjoyed it very much. Thanks again and looking forward to races there next year!
