Was pleasantly surprized by the numbers the little 19 lb thurst over achiever put up. Strait and level passes were between 165-170 mph every time and we were clocking around 190 on diving passes with our best numbers being 193 MPH. I am now pretty sure we could see 199.99 with a decent tail wind.

I was thinking about putting my new Cheetah in the Flash but being able to fly 8-10 minutes on 75-80 ounces of fuel, decent speed and light landing weights have pretty much made me change my mind on that approach. Hmmm Guess I will be looking for a new airframe for the Cheetah!

Status: offline 		I charge the batteries over the green MPX connectors on side of the twin mini. it`s a double
rx setup. always switched to the rx with the best signal.

Status: offline 		Maidened my Flash today. First flight was a bit of a handful. I had 20mm of aileron with 20% expo & not enough expo on the elevator at 30%. It was very twitchy. I cut the aileron to 10mm & upped the aileron expo to 30% & 50% on the elevator. Much smoother to fly. This is really two jets. It is easy & docile to fly slowly, open the (throttle Merlin 140) & it requires a whole lot more attention.
At full throttle it climbs, so I will dial in some down elevator at full chat.
I have 6mm crow, but will increase this, as it tends to float on landing (flaps at 50mm).
Had eight flights & it is a nice relaxing jet to fly, or a tiger by the tail if you want it to be.

so much fun in fact, i defiantly recommend you set your timer and USE it, you'd hate to know the number of times i had ran the tanks dry and flamed out with my Titan in the ON position.

landing heavy with a Flash isn't a problem, it lands just as sweet with the tanks full as it does with them empty, i've shot countless touch-n-go's from the beginning of the first lap till she ran dry, it's one of a few jets that IMHO flies better with a little weight.

Agree KC, I can't feel much of a difference if I land after 1 minute of fun, or when the tanks are almost empty!

Status: offline 		344 km/h (213 mph) this weekend with Wren 160 @ 123 000 rpm. Will need to crank that sucker up to 126 000 rpm and try again

I ran my P120 today at the field for the first time in the flash. I had put aluminum tape on the stab in the fuse to protect it from the heat. I did notice that the back of the fuse along side the vertical fin got warm. left side a bit warmer then the right side.

I am wondering what is an acceptable heat to the touch in that area. I ran for 2-3 minutes. I did not maiden it as a pretty heavy cross wind developed before I had a chance to get all the checks finished.

Did you cut out the duct holes in the bottom, it helps keep things cool...

I wonder what most guys are doing to keep the heat down?

KC you are running a 160, is this a problem for you?

one side was just warm. the other I could keep my hand on it but it was approaching getting hot.

This was as I mentioned after a 3 minute run on the ground.

Could it be that the engine nozzel was not centered?

What gap do you have between the inner tail pipe tube and the outer aluminium "cool wall" tube at the rear?

Status: offline 		I'm with Dave, check the pipe gap at the rear and make sure you've got enough gap to allow cooling air to be drawn down between the pipes and that the inner pipe is about 10mm inside the outer, after 3 min sitting she shouldn't be hot. as far as centered in the pipe, you should be able to look up the tail and see if the turbine is centered.

Dave and KC

The distance from where the inner pipe ends to where the outer pipe ends at the rear of the fuse is approx 7 mm.

The gap between the two pipes at the rear varies between 5-6 mm. I don't see how you can get any more as the outer pipe is up against the outer fiberglass.

The motor looks centered as best I can tell looking down the tube.

Status: offline 		everything looks fine in the picture to me ............. i don't know that it makes a hill of beans difference one way or the other but i always put the seam to the bottom on my installs.
