Cobra, I have had a couple of the Kangkes and one Sportsman. I highly recomend both! The DCs are pretty scarce but are beutiful once finished and also accept retracts which the others dont. I think I liked the looks of the SA better than the Kangke but the fit, finsh and construction of the 4 Kangkes I have assembled are supurb.

The DC F-20 lives again.

Juno RC down in Texas now has the kits available. The F-18 is available again now too.

Going on looks, remember the Kangke and the DC or Sportsman are two different planes. The Kangke being a actual F-20 design and the DC and Sportsman is an F-5. The back end gives this away. The F-20 was a single engine and the others were twins. The manufacturers failed to grasp this . Either way, darn nice flyers.

I actually am starting the process of covering a F-20 DC kit i started umm..a little while ago..lol. I was away from flying for a few years got back this summer and now i am finishing things I have sitting "in the bones". I planned this F-20 with out retracts (shame on me) and i have a NIB os 46 SF ABC that is going in it. I have a tuned pipe for it but may change that to a tuned muffler, i still have time to do that. The big difference i see is the location of the stab from the DC to the "newer" arfs. Maybe with this I can join the rever club

I am building another DC F20 also. I was reading another thread where someone suggested getting rid of the fake air intakes. What do you think the best way to do this would be? I was thinking of blending them in, more towards the fuse.

Consider me part of the club now. Put 4 flights on her today, needs a little bit of tuning as I'm still running the new Webra .50 a good bit rich to get it broken in. Started the day with a 10x7 prop, banged it up a little bit when I hit a hole in the runway and switched to a 9x7, so far I like the 10x7 much better. I also mean to try the 10x6 and 9x8, but may wind up back with the 10x7. Here it is:

So far so good. I had put about .75 ounces of lead in the tail but she was still nose heavy and wanted to dive, even with max elevator trim. I added another .75 ounces to the tail and adjusted the elevator linkage and all was well. I do seem to have hatch issues though. After the first flight the dowel at the back of the canopy/fuel tank hatch had broken free. I glued it back on with some 5 minute epoxy, and then after landing on the next flight while taxiing back the front tab on the hatch where the screw is came loose. Again, corrected with 5 minute epoxy. On my last flight the dowel at the back of the hatch came loose again. I can't figure why that epoxy didn't hold up....maybe vibration?

Anyway I love how she flies, just gotta get used to keeping it close in...been a while since I had something like this (Patriot, 1996-97). And holy crap this thing lands long, I might have to add a second aileron servo so I can use flaperons to slow it down. All in all I like it though.

As far as the prop, we have a nice 500 ft paved runway but on the north end there are several cracks, I wandered off into one after the second flight and ground the tip of the prop off...no other damage done.

The same thing happened to me my first time with the damn dowel in the canopy! I strengthened everything I could on the plane, all was well the first flight other than the dowel. So I used 15 min epoxy when I got back that day, and never had a problem since. Even though it says 5 or 15 min epoxy...it usually take a couple of hours to FULLY cure.

Good job on the first flights. Now that you're getting her dialed in and use to the speed again, your really going to have fun next time you fly her!

All mine land long too. I have thought about implementing some kind of drag chute a few times.

You would figure with a high wing loading that they would fall out of the sky, but nope. They're so aerodynamic that they just slice through the air, even when the throttle's chopped and on approach.

Just don't try to turn with that throttle chopped! Very ugly! Please don't ask.

I went to buy my second F20 today and I had to make a choice between the three available arfs. ie Kangke,Phoenix & Global. And guess what ? I noticed that the Global Sportsman Aviation is an exact replica of the old DC model. Maybe I'm missing something here or this is common knowledge to most of you, but I thought Juno rc bought the rights to the old DC designs so why should a reputable company like Global copy someone elses plans.
Naturally I ended up buying the Global arf hoping it will fly as good as my DC , but I would appreciate someone enlightning me about what is going on !!!!!

Yes, you are correct. The F-20 in ARF form as offered by Sportman is excatly like Juno R/C's kit version. Wingspan, length, and wing area are IDENTICAL. This cannot be coincidence, and Juno R/C has contacted Sportsman Aviation for more details. Juno R/C bought the right to manufacture, promote, and sell the F-20 kit formerly owned and produced by Direct Connection. Details will be submitted as they become available.
