Status: online 		On my .40 sized F-20 I had to put the battery pack at the extreme rear of the plane
with a long extension. It is glued to the rearmost bulkhead in front of the fake
exhaust cone. I used a plain ol' 600 ma pack because I have only 4 servos and no retracts.

You might have to place your battery pack in the rear of the plane as well. With retracts
you might want to have about 1100 ma of battery.

Status: offline 		I have an 1100 on stuck to the very rear of the fuse too. Mine isn't the DC model though.
All three brands of F-20s I have had all required the rearmost location for the battery in order to balance.

Status: offline 		hi all got a chance at owning a f-20 pheonix models tigershark with an os 60 fx and tuned pipe , fixed under carriage ,in very good condition only flown a couple of times owner couldnt get it to run right think he put the pipe on without really tuning it wants $300 for it what do you think and if i get it what mods would you do to it ? i was thinking of retractable undercarriage??????????? would appreciate all advice

Start with the price. 3 bills is pretty chill price for a rtf model of any kind.
.60 fx? Try .61FX, a pipe isn't really going to make that engine scream plus it's pretty big for that size model. A strong .45/.46 will haul it around over the 100 mark without any weight penalty. FWIW all the F-20s I have had needed the battery all the way back in the tail to balance, a .61 would require lead.
Retracts.... the wing is no problem, unfortunately the nose is, there just isn't a neat way for putting a retractable nose wheel in there. Ask Cyclic Hardover, he has been working on one for a year now.
This thread has several refrences to the poor hardware and it's potenital death dealing failures. Change it.

I don't know about spending $300 on a plane that at first look is going to be major nose heavy and possibly fly one time. However this is only my opinion, I normally don't like to spend money on planes other people have built.

Status: offline 		Thanks viceman its not that good of a deal then and found out its a phoenix models f-20 ,thought that 61 would pull it around ok, like you said could be nose heavy,found the forum on the patriot going to have a read through it , good lookin plane .......the pic of the keecat is what im flyin now ,f-20 is hanging up in a local shop ,found out that the engine kept on cutting and owner and couldnt get on with it ,

Having had 1 of these I think the 61 is probably a bit heavy. I think something like the
TT 51 or a sport engine llike the Rossi 50 up to the SJ 50 would be a better choice. Get rid of the rubbish plastic horns that come in the kit & it should be ok. I cant see how you woulld get in a retract on the nose gear without moving the f2l back.

Status: offline 		cheers , im looking at the patriot xl now ,got the option to put retracts in without much bother and i think its a nicer lookin plane ,looks more like a jet with the swept wing plus iv got a new st G90 stting around doin nothin so i think thats going to be the plan .................

Status: offline 		hi i now ordered my f 20.. it should arrive soon, now the problem is that i have an os 55 ax.. they have told me that these engine doesnt like to rev up very much, does someone knows what to do in order to improve its performance? also i am plannig to buy a new engine.. i have two options webra 55 or rossi 53 which one will be better and with what mufllers, they are for speed aplications.
